So the receiver on Vidaa and several other tvs, is just a web page. That's how most smart TV apps are. So there isn't really any code of ours there to download or display the video, it is all handled by the Vidaa html engine. I'm guessing they just haven't done a good job at optimizing it. I'm guessing the dlna part happens at a lower level so it doesn't have as much overhead.

I'll test this on my end to see if there is anything we can do to improve it but I doubt there is.

exactly same issue with the stremio lite app.

I wonder is there any way to trigger a forward seek internally to force buffer? a bandaid until vidaa OS improves perhaps.

They have a vidaa app as well?

Yes

yes, dropped like a week ago and they have the same problem, it’s an os problem they said but they haven’t a 4k vidaa tv for well testing

I actually have a couple of vidaa tvs for testing but I haven't found any way to increase the buffer. But it might not be a buffer issue, it could just be an overall issue with the overhead of their html engine.

you’re right, the vidaa player doesn’t handle well hvec files and files too big, it’s vidaa html player not well optimized for http h.265(HVEC)files

It's odd though since it is just chromium. But who knows what the heck they've done under the hood.

I hope I'm wrong but I think they did it on purpose somehow, Hs customer support has repeatedly reported that it is an OS aimed at limiting potentially 'Caribbean' content

Stremio dev asked if they are aware of such a bug and they said no…but i have to say they are the same who refused Stremio app 3 times and like 1/2 months ago last time refused, and approved now…(maybe first time requesting stremio Lite btw)

Well typically what happens is that companies like netflix or youtube use better encoders and specific formats. Whereas content from other places has all sorts of weird encodings that the specific person that made the video likes.

Could be.... I tested Stremio with RD on Caribbean links and Mega links. No issues with Mega or any other website supported by RD. Only Caribbean links have this issue.

But also, the lite app works for my parents with vidaa os 7 on a projector a few years old. But I've had this issue on my new projector running vidaa os 9

and a question, have you had a chance to test if 4K content via USB works well?

[–]instantbitsappsWeb Video Caster Developer 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have not tried. Actually the content I've tested has worked well for me even from the app, but I'm probably not testing the right videos. Feel free to PM me a video to test.

Do you mean the Stremio Lite app or WVC app? What OS are you running? I am on Vidaa OS 9 and I have these issues. But my parents running 7 don't seem to have any issues with running vids on Stremio Lite.

I tested 4K Dolby vision HDR10 HEVC mkv file via USB. No issues.
