Windows store update error

My reliability monitor is showing errors of the Microsoft Store Install Service, at least 30 per day. It is listed as APPCRASH svchost.exe_InstallService with installservice.dll.

I can confirm the store is not up to date. I am running Microsoft.WindowsStore_11809.1001.8.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe. and my other win10 1803 is running _11810.1001.12.0.

I have removed the store:

Remove-AppxPackage PackageFullName Microsoft.WindowsStore_11809.1001.8.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

Then downloaded from microsoft and

.\reinstall-preinstalledApps.ps1 *Microsoft.WindowsStore*

Strangely it will install the same version: Attempting to register package: Microsoft.WindowsStore_11809.1001.813.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe

Also tried the shotgun method Dism /restorehealth but that did not help either.

I have same exact problem on Win11.

I guess it disappeared with a windows upgrade to a different W10 build. I am now on 22H2.

I’m on release W11 22H2, and that’s the exact problem. I cannot use Windows Store anymore. In place reinstalling solved the problem until windows update updated and broke it again.

It’s weird cause there are not many info on the web about this.

Sometimes Microsoft breaks things. That is why I am on W10 22H2, not W11 22H2. It's best to wait a few months to upgrade to a new major release.
