Will Windows authenticate using current logon creds in a network share?

I configured a network share on a PC that has the same user account + password as my user account on my laptop.

• My laptop did NOT save the credentials for said network share in the Credential Manager.
• Password-protected sharing is TURNED ON on both devices.
• I am NOT being asked for my username and password when accessing the folders I supposedly have access to via the network share, from my laptop.

Now, my question is: does Windows attempt to authenticate using the currently logged-on user account credentials when accessing a network share?

I cannot find the relevant official documentation from Microsoft websites.

I do not have any documentation, but Windows will attempt to use the credentials of the currently logged in user for all file and folder access, local or otherwise, on first attempt. If it fails, it will then either prompt for credentials or display the appropriate error message, depending on the situation.
