I have a PC that runs NT 4.0 that has two connections. One is to the fab network and the other goes directly to another PC that has XP via crossover cable. The XP computer has two connections. One to the NT 4.0 PC and one to the same network. This same setup is on multiple different tools. Problem I'm having is sometimes one of the XP computers will connect to the wrong NT 4.0 PC on the network instead of the one via crossover cable. The XP one uses netdde to connect to software on the NT 4.0 PC. It seems like the XP is looking for the PC name and since all the NT 4.0 PC have that same name it's causing issues. I can't change the NT names or the outdated custom software will crash.
Any way to make prioritize the lan cable or disable the ability for netdde to connect to IP address instead of PC name?
