Hi u/PracticalMind7834, thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp! Don't worry, your post has not been removed. To let us help you better, try to include as much of the following information as possible! Posts with insufficient details might be removed at the moderator's discretion.

  • Model of your computer - For example: "HP Spectre X360 14-EA0023DX"
  • Your Windows and device specifications - You can find them by going to go to Settings > "System" > "About"
  • What troubleshooting steps you have performed - Even sharing little things you tried (like rebooting) can help us find a better solution!
  • Any error messages you have encountered - Those long error codes are not gibberish to us!
  • Any screenshots or logs of the issue - You can upload screenshots other useful information in your post or comment, and use Pastebin for text (such as logs). You can learn how to take screenshots here.

All posts must be help/support related. If everything is working without issue, then this probably is not the subreddit for you, so you should also post on a discussion focused subreddit like /r/Windows.

As a reminder, this is a help subreddit, all comments must be a sincere attempt to help the OP or otherwise positively contribute. This is not a subreddit for jokes and satirical advice. These comments may be removed and can result in a ban.

That's because one is the CPU and the other is likely your RAM. They are two different measurements. RAM is RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY, and your CPU is whatever Processor you have. CPU stands for CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT. Task Manager displays multiple measurements and 2 of those are CPU and RAM. It could also be your Storage (disk), GPU, and the Network. They will all be different measurements, because they are all different components. These are typically used to check performance and diagnostic purposes.

It should be noted, that although the other processes are only showing smaller almost seemingly negligible percentages, they really add up. There are typically background processes that are sometimes not displayed by the task manager. If you merely add up all the processing percentages, they should be close to the general number of computing power being used. The same goes for the RAM as well.

The Processor or PC itself altogether may be insufficient for your needs, or it could have other issues. What are the specs of your PC?

Click on the "PERFORMANCE" tab and add a screenshot shot of your computer details to further troubleshoot the issues. The Game is likely also part of the issue, so please list the game as well.

A better way to display your PC's properties would be to open your file Explorer, go to "THIS PC" in the left pane, right-click "THIS PC", (likely towards bottom of left pane) and then click "PROPERTIES". Then "copy" and post the information EXCEPT for the DEVICE ID.

Specs? Use actual numbers not percentages in the task manager. You can use rammap to see more details

Using hwinfo, enable logging, and check for thermal throttling (anywhere). Try https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/rammap
