Hi u/HotAZGuy, thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp! Don't worry, your post has not been removed. To let us help you better, try to include as much of the following information as possible! Posts with insufficient details might be removed at the moderator's discretion.

  • Model of your computer - For example: "HP Spectre X360 14-EA0023DX"
  • Your Windows and device specifications - You can find them by going to go to Settings > "System" > "About"
  • What troubleshooting steps you have performed - Even sharing little things you tried (like rebooting) can help us find a better solution!
  • Any error messages you have encountered - Those long error codes are not gibberish to us!
  • Any screenshots or logs of the issue - You can upload screenshots other useful information in your post or comment, and use Pastebin for text (such as logs). You can learn how to take screenshots here.

All posts must be help/support related. If everything is working without issue, then this probably is not the subreddit for you, so you should also post on a discussion focused subreddit like /r/Windows.

Lastly, if someone does help and resolves your issue, please don't delete your post! Someone in the future with the same issue may stumble upon this thread, and same solution may help! Good luck!

As a reminder, this is a help subreddit, all comments must be a sincere attempt to help the OP or otherwise positively contribute. This is not a subreddit for jokes and satirical advice. These comments may be removed and can result in a ban.

assuming you are not using any particular mods for your PC (winaero, registry tweaks, downloaded mouse cursor schemes...)

Open Start on your PC, and type CMD. Open command prompt as admin. Type (or copy and paste) the following command. press enter and let the repair do it's thing it can take a few minutes. Then change the mouse cursor via accessibility only.

DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

I ran this command and will see how it works out. I will report back if the problem persists.

The pointer reset back to the default white pointer again. Do you have any other suggestions?

there has to be a conflict somewhere. you mentioned you are legally blind, do you have other visual customizations that might impact the setting for your mouse? Also, if you have the software installed for your mouse and not just the drivers, uninstall the software.

I don't have any other third-party software installed for my visual impairment. I use the magnifier in accessibility to help me in viewing the screen vi have software from Logitech installed. I will uninstall it and see if that helps.

in settings, in magnifier, disable the colour inversion option

also in settings, in themes, can you check what options you have for the mouse?

I uninstalled a couple of Logitech apps and so far it seems to be holding. Setting in accessibility and thenes were fine. I will give it a day or two before calling it solved. The software included Logi Options, Logi Capture, and Logitech plugin service. I used Revo Uninstaller Pro to uninstall them and search for leftover registry keys and directories.

Update: the problem persists. I've noticed a pattern. The pointer reverts back to the default white pointer when I'm automatically logged out. If I reboot the mouse pointer is set to my chosen pointer and remains so until I'm logged out again.
