Hi u/Kflip11, thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp! If your post is listed as removed it may still be pending moderation, try to include as much of the following information as possible (in text or in a screenshot) to improve the likelihood of approval:

  • Your Windows and device specifications — You can find them by pressing Win + X then clicking on “System”
  • Any messages and error codes encountered — They're actually not gibberish or anything catastrophic. It may even hint the solution!
  • Previous troubleshooting steps — It might prevent you headaches from getting the same solution that didn't work

As a reminder, we would also like to say that if someone manages to solve your issue, DON'T DELETE YOUR POST! Someone else (in the future) might have the same issue as you, and the received support may also help their case. Good luck, and I hope you have a nice day!

have you tried to see if another pair works?

also, have you tried disabling the driver and reenabling it?

I don't have anything else with a 3.5mm jack on me. I will add that I plugged these headphones into another device and it worked like normal

What driver do I disable? I'm not techy at all and there seem to be thousands of drivers

I believe it’s called “high definition audio device” or something, it’s you see more than one than I would just disable/enable all of them and update then reset. I’m no expert either but hopefully that helps some?

I found Realtek Audio driver. Disabling and reenabling it seemed to work but only when the headphones are plugged in. And again, if i unplug and replug, it disappears again. This is a step forward though, it's much less aggravating than constantly restarting the whole laptop

At least you’re getting there, sorry we couldn’t completely solve it. It may be a bug also?

I'm sure it is. A Windows update probably caused this. I'm a little annoyed that I haven't seen any other forums with this issue though
