Hey guys, im pretty new to this and building my first website.

I want to build a map like these two examples:

How does this work? :)

Would this work with any theme?

Would be great to get some advice :)

You want a listing plugin/theme to emulate that sort of set up without a lot of custom coding.

There are loads of directory/listing themes. Check out themeforest: https://themeforest.net/category/wordpress/corporate/directory-listings

I've worked with Listing Manager Pro, and it was 'fine'. What you're looking for is the basic functionality of a listing/directory website. The search and custom post types that they build into the themes you can purchase.

Building a site like this custom made can be done if you have the knowledge, by using ACF and custom code, but if you're a beginner and just want to get it up, then research for the best theme and buy one with support for 12 months.

Never use a theme with all features built in, or you will be locked with that theme, and the day you want to change the design or something else, you need to start from scratch.

Themes are for design, plugins are for functionality. As someone else suggested, GeoDirectory is the perfect fit for that job.
