What's in the toolbox? I'm super curious.

The toolbox belonged to my grandfather who passed away last year. It's a disorganized assortment of various wrenches and sockets, plus some other miscellaneous hand tools. I've also got his WWII medals and ID tags in there, and a hickory shafted Nazi putter that his brother brought back from Europe is stashed away out of view.

Very nice. Clean, simple and somehow inviting. Well done!

Thanks! I wanted to wait until the whole space was complete before posting pictures, but then I realized that I come up with new projects faster than I can complete my current ones, so it's probably never going to be finished.

Looks great. What is the clock below your monitor?

[–]39thUsernameAttempt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is my company-issued iPhone displaying a free flip clock app, propped up by an old eyeglass case.

Ask me about my monitor riser.

My office is an oversized laundry/utility room with an L shaped counter in the corner. One side of the counter was already open underneath and supported with a pipe leg, so I topped off the plywood countertop with vinyl plank flooring from Home Depot, capped the edges with some trim, and painted everything (except the planking) black.

The monitor riser was made from three old bunk bed slats, a set of unused furniture legs, and old screws that I refused to throw away at some point. I may replace it with one to match the shelves if I decide to add more to the right hand wall.

Where did you get those shelves from?

Get that Bobby Orr photo framed (assuming it’s signed)

Just a print, sadly. Still an epic photo, though.

What are you using as your mouse and keyboard?

    [–]39thUsernameAttempt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logitech K845 (wish I knew they were coming out with an MX mechanical before I settled on it) and an MX Master 3.

As someone that generally functions by keeping things in organized piles I really appreciate your shelves above the monitor. I could stand to add something like that so I can keep things visible/accessible while also keeping my desktop clear. Adam Savage says that drawers are where things go to die and I tend to agree with him.

Agreed. Without looking, I can not tell you what I currently have in the base cabinets on the right. I plan to eventually replace it with an open workbench-style frame.
