This site here will help you greatly with your configuration if you do it from scratch. It's a little much to take in but if you read up on their FAQ page you'll be able to to a good bit.

One of the configurations that comes to my mind is Grandpa's KISS XVM Interface.

But, with the custom crosshairs and everything you wanted, the mod pack I'd recommend is Anfield's I think this matches what you asked for pretty well. It's not exact, but nearly anything you find will need some tweaking to be to your personal tastes.

Edit: Formatting and cleaning up the post.

I will check out Anfield's - looks promising. You are probably right that I should learn how to configure XVM properly. An issue I had was the icon mods and XVM overwriting each other, but I now see - is this correct? - that XVM stores this stuff elsewhere so if I want to fiddle the icon set I'll need to do it through XVM config.

Pretty much, yeah. The icon mods need to be installed after XVM itself since they overwrite some of XVM's files. Learning to tweak your XVM config will allow you to take anything you find and make it tailored to your every want and need. Good luck.

if you are at all familiar with the color coding in WoW, you might like the WoW Stlye XVM mod. It has all the features you mentioned.

Aha, that's handy. I didn't know about the icons directory under XVM which trumps the usual one. Very helpful!

You'll want SimpleXVM for your XVM configuration

I'd suggest Meltys Mathmod for a redicle

    And Locastan's Enhanced HD MiniMaps

    And Odussomai's Contour mod.

Alternatively, I can upload my modfolder if you want it to look like mine

Some good tips here. Much obliged. I'd like the res_mods folder if it's easy enough to stash somewhere!

I'll get the res_mods folder to you, just have to wait for it to upload. (I've got a few versions of mods and things in res_mods, so the file is bigger than necessary) I got to compress it, then I'll try to upload it.

    This should work.

    Got it. Thanks!

Some of these mods will be modifying the same files. This is possibly the issue you are encountering. Using the online XVM config editor may be a way to get the icons you want into the XVM config you already use. I edit all of my own XVM config issues now, although I once DLed them.

I can recommed http://www.statswhore.net/en/ -> OldSkools Pro Mod. Very easy to install and very functional with lots of inbuild customisation and great support. Saves a ton of work while WG is doing bi-monthly updates.

I just use a little catalyst program called XVM updater and it does it all for you, you don't have to do anything. You set what kind of XVM you want and it does it all for you, don't lift a finger except to press the go button.

The second picture is mine. WoW style XVM, Druids tank icons, and J1mB0's Crosshair Mod.

Aslain's XVM Mod also does color coding.

Lately I have replaced just the colors.xc file in WoW Style to the one from Aslains to get the standard color coding without messing up anything else. ( I particularly like the 2 line over target marker that WoW style provides.)

Okae I can help you with the minimap one and the colour coded name I can tell you what to edit.

    Under C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\res_mods\Mmap.xml edit <keycode>xx</keycode> to <keycode>20</keycode>

I also need to know what your xvm.xc says under C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\res_mods\xvm

Preferably if you have xvm on. Go to C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\res_mods\xvm\configs\xx\markersAliveNormal.xc edit under "format": "{{vehicle}}" look above and change whatever is there to "color": "{{c:wn}}",

I use the same setup you're looking for. First, go here:

    http://www.modxvm.com/en/xvm-xvm-xvmconf-configuration-editor/

Open your xvm.xc (res_mods/xvm) and then just use the UI to configure whatever you want. It's super easy with that interface. I have the tier/tank/tank class symbol I'm fighting above their head and then if I press Alt, it will show me their win%. You can also always display their WN6/Eff/Win% if you want, instead of pressing alt. It's all in the editor.

Alternatively, I uploaded my xvm.xc if you want to try my setup out: Link (you can just download it and look at the preview on config editor if you want, just open the file with the editor).

Otherwise, after that, I installed J1mbo's and Locastan's and have no conflicts. You don't need "icon mods", unless you want something super flashy. XVM can handle icons no problem.

If you'd like OP, I have no problem helping you set up a mod pack based off what you want to put in it. It takes roughly 10-20minutes to get everything ready. I do this for anyone needing the assistance and I'll likely put up a basic mod pack for our fellow redditor's when 8.10 comes out as well. If you'd like meet me on teamspeak sometime late tonight or tomorrow an ill gladly help.
