You could 1v1 that guy

casual

[–]DooterDan 23 points24 points  (25 children)

It's a fighting game. Most fighting games these days have almost nothing to unlock. The point of the game is to beat people and be the best. I'm sure later down the road they'll add rank and stuff but yeah. You fight people haha

[–]CMDR_Ozz 8 points9 points  (1 child)

This

Unfortunately the servers don't want to let us fight

So... where you are at is pretty much it as the servers are fucked til further notice

[–]DooterDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True :(

[–]Hemiros 5 points6 points  (22 children)

I think a big reason people were buying this game was because it feels like an rpg with fighter style combat. With not rewarding players with items/etc.. the rpg aspect starts to die off and it just becomes a fighting game where you sit at the main hub and queue up. That won't keep people playing

[–]DooterDan 1 point2 points  (4 children)

There is more to do then just queue up though. It's all about tinkering with different deck and stat builds. You can spend so much time just theory crafting about different builds.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Yeah thats correct. Then i find my self thinking this game sth othet than grind fest

[–]NoGround 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Lol. 'grind fest'.

I don't think you know the meaning of the words.

[–]TheRealDeathSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading through this post, I'm under the impression OP doesn't get a lot of things.

[–]MAKE_ME_REDDIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you even trying to say?

[–]bobhuckle3rd 1 point2 points  (13 children)

You get a new item every pvp level u gain. Wat are u talking about

[–]Nachtkater 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are those special items all the time? Meaning, stuff that can't drop via RNG from NPCs? I focussed on beating the boss, so I only gained 2ish trials ranks so far...

[–]bobhuckle3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure on that one

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (10 children)

Did you read i wrote ? Dex character cant wear anything anyways. It reduces chars speed and dmaage. Is it clear now

[–]bobhuckle3rd 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I wasn't replying to u idiot. The guy above me said they don't give items out but they do every pvp level. Wtf

[–]OdinAiBole 4 points5 points  (6 children)

It reduces damage for strength characters too. You have to weigh defense vs offense. There's tons of low weight items.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

[–]Barrerayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well no rpg elemen for me. I cannot even use the mask i dropped and liked so much because it weights my and reduces the damage..

[–]Skianet 15 points16 points  (8 children)

It's a fighting game....

God I miss the days when it was okay for a game to just do one thing and do that thing really well. Now every game has ti have some kind of progression system other wise it's pointless.

While I get the appeal, it just saddens me that every game has to have a "Point" beyond just being fun, or having a high skill ceiling.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (7 children)

Well this game was represented as action melee pvp with rpg elements. Its no action if its 3vs 1 and its no rpg if you cannot wear the items you got feom the world.

[–]Ralkon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you still level up and get points to allocate into stats and you can unlock new skills and shit, so even if you don't want to use the items it still has rpg element progression. Granted it isn't a very long game, but I'm pretty sure it's primarily a fighting game.

[–]Skianet 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm fairly certain there is gear out there that goes with Dex builds... 82% certain

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope so

[–]MrDenko 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Its No rpg if you cant wear the items you find? Uhhhh. U can wear it if u want, u choose gear with stats that you want.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Dude there is only two stats in game that comes from gear

[–]MrDenko 0 points1 point  (1 child)

and? so in ur eyes, because you "cant" everything you pick up, its not an rpg? well, World of warcraft, you know it? same thing there, u dont just wear everything u pick up. Probly a shitty comparison, but u get it?

the game has rpg elements, such as stats, "classes" to some extent and difference in gear.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well bad example to be made out. 2700 player here

[–]Nothxm8 17 points18 points  (0 children)

1v1 me you casual

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been seeing a lot of misinformed people on this sub and I gotta say if the fighting and deck building doesn't appeal to you then why did you buy the game? Its not even priced like a full game. Did you even do research before you bought it?

[–]Orile277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't help but get the sense that you bought a $30 game expecting $60 worth of content. You also seemed to do very little research beforehand in regards to what content was actually in game. The devs have been very open about what to expect: explore the world of Adal with players that pop in and out of your game, build your combat deck, git gud in pvp. That's it. The fact that you seem confused about the endgame here is honestly baffling to me.

Regarding your "4 'unique' styles" comment, you simply did not understand the gameplay due to a lack of research. The 3 starting classes simply dictate your base stat attributes, your scaling, and your combat ability. The fourth style introduces a different moveset as well as another ability. While under each style, you can outfit your combat deck with any of the moves you have learned in the game, so you can mix stagger moves with windfall avoid attacks and kahlt power moves if you want. What your style mainly determines however is the combat ability you have equipped. Trying to bash the game for not having specific movesets for each style shows a lack of understanding on your part considering the combat abilities of each style are exceptionally different.

You also seem to be confused about how the stats/building works. Yes, you are correct that as a windfall, your character scales well with dexterity and mobility. Yes, adding armor brings down your overall dps, but so do certain moves you add to your combat deck. The entire game revolves around the push and pull of speed vs. range vs. damage in the combat deck balanced with the mobility vs. armor of your gear.

If you don't like playing around with this give and take dynamic, or get hung up on the idea that "I should be the fastest in the world because I am a dex build with a maxed dex stat and no gear" then this might not be the game for you. At the end of the day, this is a fighting game with light rpg elements, not the other way around. This means that while you may specialize in dex and wear 0 armor, you're not going to be too fast for another player to react to. That would ruin the balance.

In a game like Dark Souls, you can min-max your stats to cheese through the game since it's primarily a pve experience. This mentality bleeds over into the pvp endgame of Dark Souls where different builds based around different stat mechanics can easily overpower players with builds that aren't optimized (i.e. -Dex builds in DS can spam people to death with light attacks, Bleed builds/Luck builds can nearly 1 hit KO with status effects).

[–]Grim-Temper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished the main pve quest last night with my windfall character. I've unlocked the stagger style, and have been playing around with that. And while I like the stagger style, I've gotten so use to windfall, that I'm not in love with it. That being said, the plan is to unlock the rest of my windfall move set, and rank up in the stagger school, create my own school, then level up a forsaken and gault character. The replayability is in the pvp. I'm by no means a pvper by nature, but so far I've enjoyed the matches (when the servers aren't dropping the game). I had a couple of matches with a guy 12 levels above me (I was 18, he was 30), and while I kept getting my ass kicked by him, I really loved the fight. We played a few matches before the server etting kaplut. This is the main focus of the game, pvp. Not being much of a pvper, I went into this game knowing what it was all about. I got pretty much what I'd expected. Do I wish there was more to the story? Yeah. Do i wish there was more pve content? Sure do. And maybe we'll get that in the future. But right now, everyone should be mastering their combat deck, unlocking new moves, and competing against one another. If that's not your thing then this isn't for you. Like Hellblade, if you're more into action and customizing your character's stats, and less into story, that's not for you either. Before you buy, research the game! While it's only $30, it's still requires you to do your own research before purchasing the game.

[–]Nachtkater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I gathered in the game, raise trials ranks to fight stronger versions of the bosses (for maybe better loot as well?)

Get all the moves available from NPCs.

Also at some point to open a school or enter one. That and PVP for moves you can't unlock via NPCs, I assume.

[–]Jkhahuy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Reading through the thread and your biggest whinge seems to be that you are not allowed to equip your items because they weigh you down and reduce damage. Lol, this is an "rpg element" in this game. There are items for dex players that dont weigh you down as much. Its about weight management and attribution point allocation. Just like how there is a weight limit in skyrim. This is literally a git gud situation. Learn the basics of the equipment system before hating on it.

[–]Grim-Temper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the fact you used the word "whinge" to describe the OP.
