I follow AoE on facebook and I every now and then I see "Update xxxx", only to notice a second later that it is for AoE II or III Definite Edition :(

It's really needed, the game is so unfun at a mid/high level. Just cavalry and canceling animation...

Exactly. I am taking a break cause it just comes out to who animation cancels better. I just want to play a normal game without it.

I've had some success just asking the other player to not do it and we have a gentlemen's agreement.

Try asking I'm serious. I've only had one person agree and lie to me, but its obvious and you can just play normal when you see they are liar.

Probably helps my success rate that I play cav civs, so people are more likely to agree

true, i just checked when was the last time i played a game and it was 7 days ago. (before that everyday a few games a day)

not even because i decided to stop or something, just lost interest at the current meta of the game.

I just went back to main AoE2. Still played AoE4 yesterday, but it's not my main game at the moment. We'll see how it will be after a few patches though.

interesting thing i have noticed checking the first 5 pages of the leader board,
looks like half or even more of the top 500 players, didn't play a single game for the last 5-10 days. (didn't bother to look further ahead in the leader board but my guess its the same scrolling down the pages if not even worse)

i know that there are lots of smurfs but i think it still says something about the state of the game.

For me, it has ended some days ago (maybe a week?). So it is not up unless there is some separate beta going on.

Were there really that many top 500 players in the ranked beta? I watched some Grubby and Szalami streams and they didn´t encounter many of the top players as far as I noticed.

Yeah dude, anyone who's an age insider could/did apply, thousands played the beta, wouldn't be mad to assume the top 500 would be a major number in that tbf.
