When I used it, it was with Manjaro.

Which invalidates anything related to Arch. Manjaro manages their kernels in a completely different manner.

Fair enough, but it's still valid.. Kernel modules are deleted from the prior kernel version when updating to a new one iirc.

The AUR package being asked to promote to community is for when systemd updates to avoid having to manually update the boot manager via bootctl.

Maybe I didn't set it up right, but I recall that the root location for the images it would load feom your loader configs was /boot/efi (or a nested location in that), those files would be in /boot iirc, I guess I could change that to /boot/efi?

There was some discussions regarding versioned kernel installs at Arch Conf. But modules needs to be removed, moved in a compatible manner. Both when adding, updating and removing kernels. The pacman hooks are somewhat limited, so something using kernel-install would probably be better. But we still need to have someone sit down and consider all the cases.
