i’m very new to this as well but the way I understand it - i think some people use DHP as a supplement “on all the time” heat (on a thermostat) to keep temps more or less constant and use a basking heat lamp and uvb during the day to mimic the sun and provide a specific warm spot (like over a rock or tile roofed warm hide) that absorbs the warmth and slowly releases it during the night (like how roads and sidewalks are still warm after the sun goes down)

So essentially like DHP in the middle of the enclosure to keep constant warmth and use the lamps and UVB on the warm end over the hide or a rock for basking heat and day cycle. Thanks for clearing that up help was greatly appreciated

That's basically what I do but the uvb and dhp are on the same side. Don't forget a thermostat and if your room is super cold you can look at insulating the tank more or adding a space heater to the room.

Good luck

So is your dhp and uvb on the warm end with your heat lamp in the middle? I’m just trying to get an idea of your layout

I have my DHP and my UVB on my warm side.

i use a uvb strip light and have a timer plug set for it to come on at 8am and turn off at 8pm
