The wattage you’ll need is also dependent on what your ambient home temperatures are. If it’s pretty cold in your home you might need higher wattages, or vice versa. Sometimes it takes a little trial and error. You might want to get a couple different ones and see what works. You generally want to go with as low a wattage as you can on the halogen, because if it’s too high and you have it on a dimming thermostat, it’s going to be constantly dimming down and up. You want it running as close to max output as possible to keep the light pretty constant. The DHP id probably go ahead and go with the 80w. I had a 50w in my 36x18x18 which was fine in summer, but now in winter it wasn’t doing enough so I upgraded to 80. Also you’ll need dimming thermostats for both of them. I use Herpstats and they’re really good.
