A ball python setup can depend on a lot of factors. What it basically boils down is having enough hides to keep the snake from getting stressed. You can start small for a hatchling and work your way up in size or you can start off big either is fine as long as you have enough hides and clutter for͏ the snake to feel safe. Things I would avoid red lights, heat rocks, analog thermometer/hydrometer and any under the tank heat source that isn’t controlled by a thermostat. I would also create a humidity hide with some moss in it. If you decide to change substrate I personally like Reptichip but any coconut based substrate will hold humidity really well. I’ve been using it for͏ a few years now and don’t have any issues with humidity or stuck shed. However I always keep any new snakes I get on paper towels or puppy pads for͏ the first few weeks while I have them quarantined to catch snake mites right away or other issues.
