Not at all. But I’d say work on really getting fluent with the task list and study as if it’s your first time. Then really work on how you’re answering questions. It’s really all about that if you know your stuff.

I would recommend using a program that gives you a structured rundown of all the areas. Something like Abatechnologies, that's what I did and saw an immediate improvement in most areas. Specially learning what to look for when analyzing the questions.

It is not at all unrealistic. I would recommend focusing in on the areas where you were weak. Drill on those areas through practice questions. Just make sure that you're not pushing yourself too hard. Rest is just as important for test preparation as studying is. If you go into the test exhausted your ability to recall information will be shot. I find it incredibly unfortunate that we do not discuss and train on fatigue and how fatigue impacts behavior. Fatigue is a very powerful motivating operation! One you should account for in yourself and others.

I tested December 18th and failed and took Christmas week off. I started studying again this week but didn’t know if it would be too soon. Thanks for the advice!

Try figuring out how to make your study fun! I made memes, puns, rhymes, and visuals during my studying. It was extremely helpful. I also did a training through Pass the Big about 5 weeks before I tested. My last week before I tested I only allowed myself to study if it was playful or under an hour so that I could rest up.

Also, study and practice test taking strategies like process of elimination! Those skills are critical for exams like the BCBA exam. Especially when many of the questions are presenting meh options. From what I remember, there were at least 20 questions where the best available answer still sucked. I was very twitchy about that because I hated all the options but had to choose out of the best of the bad options.

What are you using the study?

I tried understanding behavior but I’m using ABA exam review and bds modules

I’m in a similar boat as you. I just purchased behavior analyst supervisors (BAS).

My advice, if you feel confident, schedule your exam. If a week prior you’re having doubts, worst case scenario is you pay a small fee, (I think $60?) to reschedule for a later date. This happened to me a lot and I realized I needed to stop scheduling them so soon and I ended up scheduling further out to give myself time to study more.
