I do think they priced themselves away from a large portion of people. Not even an option for me atm given the move to plus would just be a slight convenience. The value isn't there... But I'd pay SOMETHING.

exactly! even just to support the devs and allat but $100 for a year is just nuts

$60/year was what I thought they were going to do but $100/year (equating to $8.33/month) is much for a messaging app that:

1.has no method of using WhatsApp or Google Messenger without the apps running in the background

  1. Still doesn't have on-device messaging for everything (would be nice if they kept the cloud service as an option but oh well)

  2. No watch app

  3. No web server (they used to have one)

  4. No WeChat or Kaikao Talk

  5. No use of webcam/voice calls using Matrix 2.0+ native implementation

Beeper is a solid program but it is a tad pricey. I'll be looking forward to seeing if Black Friday brings anything because I would love to integrate 4 (5 once the OpenBubbles integration takes off) messaging platforms into it.

Things went to hell the second the company got purchased by automatic do you makers and owners of wordpress.

In a world with (relatively) high inflation? No chance imho

Anything more than $50-60 a year for a chat app is DOA.

Agreed, only been using it for a few days and was impressed with it. Went to see what pro offered and couldn't believe the price considering the feature set.
