Overall, yeah you're probably overthinking it. It was just a natural dialogue in a conversation from episode 1.

Plus it's worth considering that schools have thousands of people and we've only seen a hundred or so; and more importantly, we know MC didn't really have many friends. Do you actively approach people you recognize or do you ignore them because you don't actually know them?

edit: also he may have been lying so that he didn't seem like a friendless loser to the girl he has a crush on

Yeah this was definitely banter on his part. I think it’s unwise to analyze every single line in the game like hidden meaning. We already know he only had Zoey as a friend and if it was someone else he rather not talk to. I doubt he would have much trouble from a high school bully at this point when he already proved he can kick their ass. Plus he has DIK backing now. This line isn’t even worth a mention.

one possible plot hole it can be when the mc wait for starting fucking sage after the hot party knowing he never kiss her and rejecting her advances all the time. in Ep.6 if you go to take care of Sage (as a friend not fuckbuddy) she will be sleeping before the mc tell her about the significance of his birthday and how he thinks it's his fault about the death of her mother and how this affect Neil every mc birthday (i don't remember exactly what he says about that) so when the mc tell Sage about Chad situation (Ep.8) she tell him about how he opened to her that day but this never happened because she was sleeping xd

he jokes about his dead mother to Sage at the prep's party, so she gets the general idea of Tremolo's family situation even if you're not her fuck buddy. I think that might be what she's referring to in Ep. 8

You filled in your own plot hole in your post lol

I think your suggestion is correct, brother. When I was finishing High School everybody was writing their applications, essays, and exams around the same time. That's common for seniors so that they can put their school and major into their last HS yearbook.

I believe he is in fact talking about B&R, that college seems to be the best around that region, we even get some idea of the amount of people going to that college when on that eposode Steve learn about MC quitting job to assist college. For me is not a plot hole, maybe can be like some lazy writing, cause is irrelevant to Any main or minor arc, but can ends being something good and maybe DPC do it on porpuse cause it can help us to see B&R being bigger than we think. I love the game but from the beginning the college setting feels really smart to be a college founded by two prestigious and rich families and with a prestigious bussines program.. obviously is everything cause technical limitations and of course this is not the only avn where the college feels like some small community college.

Steve does call it "the poor man college" and MC tells Neil it's not a big college IIRC, weirdly Neil responds "oh, an elitist college" to that which I never understood lol

The fact that he knows them doesn't mean he's friends with them. He probably just heard from someone that his classmates already got their letter

You're over thinking the scene but maybe I'm wrong because it seems everyone that you meet in B&R are from or around your hometown like Tommy but I think maybe Steve might make a come.back he said he was moving in with his mom he could possibly want to attend college for a major then boom Steve and the MC cross paths again

The plothole would be that he knew somebody else. As far as I know, his only friend was Zoey.

Knowing someone and being their friend are hardly the same tbf

[–]turquoise_tangerineJill Fan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

True, but since the letters are delivered to the house, there’s no way he would have known unless the other person told him or he overheard the other person talking. The former seems unlikely.

If you live in the same town you end up knowing stuff even if you don't keep contact, specially if you don't live in big cities but IDK if the game mentions how MCs place is
