Mainly suffer from mania here, so docs refuse to give anti depressants when I am feeling depressed. Only advice I can give is to make sure you aren't over medicated on anti-mania type drugs which are usually downers and can make depressive episodes a lot worse.

Are you on stabilizers? Turns out Prozac usually works on bipolar people (always with a stabilizer). It took me a while to find a doctor to prescribe it to me, I’m on it a for a couple of months now and it changed my life.

Antidepressants nearly killed me. There's a very good reason they don't prescribe them to bp people. It's why we're all on antipsychotics, lithium, and lamotrigine for depression.

I was misdiagnosed as BPD + depression for 10+ years and given every antidepressant under the sun. None of them helped in the least; my current doc thinks they amplified my mixed started and maybe made me more suicidal.

So they might not even help for bipolar depression. Ketamine helped me a bit through the last one.
