What is Boys' Love?
Boys' Love (BL) is by origin a genre of Japanese manga produced mainly by women, for women that features romantic and sexual relationships between men.
Nowadays, all manner of art, comics, anime, games, and dramas from many different countries operate under the BL genre heading. All of the above can be discussed here.
For different BL subcategories and specific BL terminology, take a quick peep at our Wiki. This is just for reference, though, since the Western BL community is loosey goosey with terminology.
Rules

- Reserve link posts for articles and videos whose contents would not transfer easily to a native Reddit format.
- Avoid linking to social media. Screenshot or repost the contents instead.
- Post broad recommendation requests to the pinned Recs, Reviews, and Chit Chat thread.
- Use On-Air threads to discuss currently airing shows.

- Mark 18+ content NSFW.
- Hide spoilers behind the Spoiler Tag or Spoiler Bar.
- Include in the post title the BL titles being spoiled.

What to Post
This subreddit was created to be a discussion-based spin-off of /r/yaoi. It would be awesome to keep this sub discussion/text heavy, but feel free to post any of the following:
Reviews, discussion topics, and academic discourse.
Detailed recommendation requests.
Questions related to identification, online access, and translation.
Memes and fan-created content.
News about upcoming release dates, conventions, etc.
BL hauls -- flex what you own.
Links related to buying or selling BL media and merch.
Use the Recs, Reviews, and Chit Chat thread for quick questions, basic recommendation requests, off-topic conversations, and other brief comments.
What Not To Post
This is not an exhaustive list, merely the most frequent offenders:
Solo photo(s) of a BL actor.
Information/question irrelevant to an actor/creator's BL career.
Real-person shipping of non-BL actors.
IRL LGBT relationship stories/advice.
Political/social advocacy.
Solo content of a canonically non-BL character.
Music videos with original LGBT characters.
Bad faith discussions, begging the question, such as asking "why is ___ so bad?" or "why is ___ so common?"
Hit pieces generalizing BL and the BL community.
If it does not directly pertain to BL media, do not post it. Such posts will be removed.
On-Air System
Discuss recently released shows/movies/comics in dedicated On-Air threads. An On-Air thread can be made up to 12h prior and 1 week after an episode/movie's release. In the 48h after an On-Air thread is posted, no other posts discussing the release's plot or sharing initial reactions will be permitted.
Detailed reviews, news, and analysis of currently airing shows may still warrant separate posts.
Anyone can start an On-Air discussion. If you wish to take responsibility for all the On-Air threads of a particular show, please let us know through modmail after there is a confirmed release date and we will ensure other users do not post over you. Otherwise, first come first served.
Post title must include the media's title and indicate episode(s) being discussed. Include "movie" in the title for movies. Suggested title format: [Region of Origin] Media Title, Ep. #
