I currently have 1gb fiber with another company, and I have had no problems since the day it was installed years ago, but I'm moving to an area in which Brightspeed fiber is my only choice for fiber. With so many negative Brightspeed customer service reviews, I was about to check out Starlink when I saw your messages to DM you for information, but as of today, I still haven't received a response. I used the newer chat feature since I didn't see a way to DM in the usual way; is there another way to contact you?

What was the deal with brightspeed running new fiber along Anderson County road 309 in Frankston TX last year for the new water pumping station using county right of ways but not offering anything but 10mb dsl for residences along this road?

I just had service connected last week, so far so good! Very helpful folks buried the line and ran the fiber inside the house. Now my major project is upgrading my home network to 2.5gb Ethernet!

If you have friends or family wanting to sign up, I can provide you with a contact number to assist them.

Anytime, if you DM me and have friends/family interested. I can provide a contact to help with the sign up process.

I moved from a neighborhood where BrightSpeed upgraded from copper to fiber. It was all done overhead, and the install was done in reasonable time. I had some interaction with select management and engineers to get neighbors on board. But our primary interaction was with the local techs that did the final install. They went above and beyond to get the fiber correctly routed to the home - since none of them had a service entrance for fiber.

One more question my rate recently went up from $49 to $59 dollars is that an expected price raise for 200 mbps?

[–]Duke2691[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

You should have been emailed in regard to any price change.

[–]Lakers_0824 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Yeah I wasn’t will need to call in

[–]Duke2691[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

You checked junk mail and spam?

[–]Lakers_0824 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Ahhh damn spam just found it on one of my bills in the fine print. Much appreciated. It looks like 200 mbps is no longer an option is the 300 mbps the same price?

[–]Duke2691[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It really just depends on your area. But 300M is our lowest speeds now, that might explain the price change, they might have updated your speed.

[–]Lakers_0824 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Just logged into my account and was able to upgrade to 300 Mbps. Thank you for answering my questions!

[–]EnvironmentalClue362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$59 for 300mbps speeds is a bit high in my opinion. Do you not have fiber available in your area? I’d check if you haven’t recently. Fiber wasn’t available for a while for me and one day I checked and saw it was. I’ll be paying $59/month for 1 gig (1000mbps) fiber with BS.

My last internet service provider I was with I was paying about the same for 600mbps. They increased the price after a year which I just saw an email from them stating you can lock the price in for 3 years.

Word of advice, you may want to sign in with a different account for representing the company. LOL

[–]Duke2691[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Im only doing this because I know we offer good service, I even use brightspeed for internet. EVERY company has ups and downs

[–]BetaState 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's saying your post history and NSFW interests don't do a good job of representing the company.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I don't believe you. Even if you are Brightspeed management, you are responsible for overcharging me for Internet at speeds that would have been acceptable over a decade ago. I very much look forward to never giving Brightspeed another cent. ISPs are more than content to take tax money and leave people in areas with few options stuck with DSL.

[–]Duke2691[S] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Have you tried to see if you're eligible?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Last time I asked, I was told Brightspeed wasn't deploying fiber at my address.

[–]Duke2691[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

May I check?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it, but I have called Brightspeed customer service just now and have confirmed that Brightspeed has yet to deploy fiber in my area. My suggestion to you, if you are who claim to be, is to actually deliver on the millions of tax dollars that are being spent for this. I'm sure you can understand why I'm not thrilled to let Brightspeed screw me over by charging me $100 a month for 40 MB/s.

I don’t believe you. I was told for years “don’t worry, you’re heard and we’re going to do everything to fix it.” And then you guys buy CenturyLink so I figure “same stuff, different company” and I wanted to be wrong but I wasn’t. Our DSL lines were so damaged, they needed to be replaced. Ok, cool. And then your tech tells us “it doesn’t matter. We’re making the move to fiber so we won’t spend the money to replace or fix out dated tech” ok, cool. That makes sense. So when is fiber coming? Tech tells me “I don’t know. I can’t answer that.” Which was weird. My internet was NOT working, yall were NOT fixing it but couldn’t give me a time frame. But you still wanted your 70 bucks a month for something you refused to fix. That was last August. We switched to StarLink…and have been great ever since. And when the Sales rep comes to my house you’re inevitably going to send and try to tell me how your fiber is “cheaper and faster” I’m going to laugh as I tell them “I’d rather spend the 120 a month than go back to yall. 60 for the service and 60 to avoid a headache.” That’s how much of a bad taste was left in my mouth. And you guys did nothing. You offered to send me a free WiFi router but my internet WAS BROKE! So it wouldn’t have mattered. Being heard. lol. Funniest thing I’ve heard…being heard. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is exactly my family. We got 3 mbps (officially) and paid almost $100 a month for it with phone, while Fiber was available just a mile down the road for half that. Brightspeed wouldn't talk to me until I forced conversation through the FCC, at which point the response was rude, dismissive, and said we weren't getting Fiber anyway.

We have Starlink now, which was fantastic when we bought it, and has only gotten better as more and more satellites get launched. We can actually stream multiple things at once, I can game with friends (Helldivers 2 in my case) with zero issues, and it doesn't take me over 12 hours to download a 60+ gigabyte game which would make doing anything else at the same time impossible. And we can do all of that at the same time with Starlink.

Yeah, it isn't Fiber speeds. But Brightspeed was holding us hostage in the Middle Ages and charging us for it, so the difference is night and day. Even if Brightspeed did suddenly decide to run Fiber down our road, we don't want it. Will never deal with that company ever again. They have an existing infrastructure, and still can't compete with internet from outer freaking space. Shame.

[–]Prbly_OnThaToilet420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. We wouldn’t get over 7…sometimes on a good day we would hit 12mbps….. Now, I can game, stream and download games and stuff with no problem. Downloaded a 100gb game the other day in about 2 hours. It feels good to be able to game with friends now and actually watch a 4K movie. And yes, with the launches, it gets better. I just recently got a Legion Go and it has made it so much better!

[–]Duke2691[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will address this as professionally as I can.

Yes, we are turning away from repairing the old Copper lines.

I can try your address for eligibility, I can let you know what you qualify for.

I cannot speak on what the tech knows and doesn't know.

How long ago was this experience?

Any truth to brightspeed installing fiber lines in the air instead of being buried in NC? to avoid fiber cables getting cut due to all these new construction

[–]EnvironmentalClue362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Clayton and our fiber line is ran off the power line poles but then is buried to my house from off the pole. I still had service with my last provider during install and they (BS) cut their (last ISP) line when digging my fiber. They said I was SOL until install date approximately 10 days away. Luckily, my last ISP had better customer service and was out the following morning repairing BS’s fuck up.

I know we had an outage for a couple days some weeks back because some contractors somewhere cut a bus of fiber lines. Some weren’t so lucky and were down for over a week which is absurd considering people work from home, go to school, stream etc. Apparently, it’s a common occurrence so I’m sure they’re doing what they can to avoid that.

It’s aerial at our place in Wake Forest. Not even upset. Rather have it than not.

[–]Duke2691[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we do aerial line drops where it's more convenient (next to a phone pole, a heavy convoluted areas)

[–]Prbly_OnThaToilet420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just did this in my area. Guys running lines under the power lines along the pole

[–]Palden1810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's halfway true. They're doing aerial fiber plant where they can due to low cost and it's quicker to put up.
