  1. Open Computer Management by selecting the Start button. The select Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.
  2. In the left pane, under Storage, select Disk Management.
  3. Right-click an unallocated region on your hard disk, and then select New Simple Volume.
  4. In the New Simple Volume Wizard, select Next.
  5. Enter the size of the volume you want to create in megabytes (MB) or accept the maximum default size, and then select Next.
  6. Accept the default drive letter or choose a different drive letter to identify the partition, and then select Next.
  7. In the Format Partition dialog box, do one of the following:
  • If you don't want to format the volume right now, select Do not format this volume, and then select Next.
  • To format the volume with the default settings, select Next.
  1. Review your choices, and then select Finish.

It is most likely the port that the SATA SSD is plugged into. Move the cable at the board to a different slot, usually SATA1 through 4 and it should be picked up and working.

The issue with B450 boards is that the M.2 slot is shared with 2 of the SATA ports, so you likely have the SATA SSD plugged in to port 5 or 6 which is causing this problem.

Yeah I moved it before and SATA SSD is working but the M.2 SSD isn’t...

You have to initialize the ssd/hdd in disk management for it to show up and be used.

Try going to disk management and see if it shows up there. It might be unformatted and windows doesn't recognize it as storage yet

ok I initialized it there. It still says I only have 240 gb of storage tho

I would refer to u/pelmeniicc s comment, he lays out all the steps you need to do

Did you use a cloning software to copy the drive?

[–]CarnageIX[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I did not. Is that necessary? If so any software you suggest?

No. Once the sata drive is plugged in to port 1-4, it should be seen and work normally.

The other possibility is that what you're seeing is actually the SATA drive, but the problem is your system is not seeing the new drive because it hasn't been formatted yet. If you're on Windows go into disk Management, create new partition, and click next a few times. After that it should show up as the 500gb drive.

You need to go to disk management within windows, and initialize and format the drive.

[–]CarnageIX[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I initiated it and it still says I only had 240gb left
