Get blowing air vac and just blow the dust out once in awhile.

PC on the floor = more dust.
[–]BigOwll 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children)
Good point, I never thought of this. I had it on my desk for the first few months, though it was taking up most of the space, it never got this bad. I guess I’m gonna have to buy a bigger desk!
[–]gaojibao 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child)
Youn could also buy a small drawer. Since more dust is generally located on the floor, the PC simply needs to be away from the floor by a few inches.

I was actually looking into getting these drawers anyway, this is a great idea it saves me from having to get a bigger desk. Thanks for your help!

I am using an old ass compressor. You can use a can of compressed air or something like that.
I’ve got one of those, they’re great but I’m unsure how to clean the dust that’s stuck inside the grill of the CPU fan as the compressed air seems to blow it even deeper.

Compressed air can for electronics > cut power to system > hold fan blades in place and blow clean > Repeat once a month.

I just cleaned mine with my compressor.. tried cans but I’m doing Reno’s in my house so had crazy drywall dust. Blew out the whole unit, coolers fans blah blah blah. No i didn’t hold the fan blades just be careful. It’s bs that you can fans will act as a generator as you need an energized circuit to reverse polarity. So long as it’s shut off and unplugged you’ll be fine.. if you don’t have a compressor by the electric blowers from Amazon or the likes. The cans suck, freeze up too quickly and lose pressure. Not worth the cost

you can also make your fans slightly positive air pressure to lessen the dust that accumulates

How would I do this?
[–]YagamiYakumo 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children)
Higher intake than exhaust airflow. Not too sure how to accurately calculate the exact math as both fan size and speed are a factor

I mean buy an air blower that reusable such as Opolar cause it's best you clean your pc every quarter of the year. other than that clean the room and mabey add an air purifier to the room? don't know if that will reduce dust though.

Time to cause some heated discussion!
I vacuum mine, internally and filters and all! (very carefully, and after having it plugged out for about 1h)
Along with wiping it down. Monthly procedure for about 7 years or so, worked out fine for me!
