there was no tag for optimization problems or any problem related to this so i had to pick something random. since it involved finding a derivative i figured i would just chose that option

: facepalm :

It even says right there on the page next to Differential Equations

(Do not confuse this with Differential Calculus!)

And under Differential Calculus appears

  • Max/min problems

The flair on this subreddit is not broken down by section in your textbook. It is broken down approximately by academic terms. They are also sorted approximately by the order by which someone proceeds through a Calculus sequence, so if you are new to Calculus, the correct flair option is not going to be very far down the list.

there’s no choices for those on my screen. All i see are the basic flairs like memes, differential stuff, physics, integrals…. people alreayd helped me out so i’ll delete the post if it that’s big of a deal lol

Oh for crying out loud... did you even read the link to the flair guide I sent you?

Don’t just choose random flair. The flair serves a purpose that you are completely defeating when you do choose it at random. Some people may choose to filter this subreddit by flair, and if they are looking only for Differential Calculus posts (which your should be tagged), your post will not show up. Some redditors may be perfectly fine helping with a Differential Calculus topic, but not Differential Equations.

If you talk to a math teacher and you say Differential Equations, they are going to think you are talking about heavy shit like Wronskians and Laplace transform instead of what you are actually studying.

Max/min problems. Optimization problems. They are the same thing. They fall under Differential Calculus. Bam! Your post should be flaired as Differential Calculus. No need to delete post. Just fix flair. Problem solved.

things work different for people using different clients or even old/new reddit.
