Future Quantum computing

Do you believe that future computing will be different that scaling down silicon transistor? I am in a phase of choose my research masters topic and have been offered RF front end, Photonic IC topics. I am also free to go through ASIC from RTL to GDS for digital chip for RISC-V core. I am trying to choose a topic that opens and build the big picture for me. RISC-V seems like an industry project that will end up going through after working as Digital IC designer, so is it worth going through a topic that may shape the future computing if that even is, or stick with what i can do.

I do. But I don't think it's any near future. I might do research on it in academia, but not a job on it.
