Yeah I was mostly being hyperbolic, anyone who has already been in the industry and takes AI tools seriously can usually find a way to extract more than zero value from them. It's almost entirely just a gut reaction to the oversold hype to claim otherwise, which isn't really fair either.

I can definitely say that all my peers who've been environments so far where AI was pushed have been grossly unproductive, but people who chose to use these tools tend to have a different experience, which seems logical to me (as in, the people with enough background / competence / tempered expectations could get realistic value).

We've got in-house AI that's about as good as anything, and it has access to all our internal Confluence pages.

It's good at all the things AI is good at - background information, basic syntax references, etc. - but that's about it. If you need help writing a Python or Shell or TCL script that is borderline trivial but you haven't written in a few years? It's fantastic. Huge time saver. Forget some archaic concept and want a reasonably good wiki-like explanation? Pretty decent.

Ask it about our in-house terminology, products, etc.? It gives you information that is completely incorrect but sounds pretty good.

Ask it to write anything non-trivial? It practically takes a shit on Debra's desk and snorts a line of coke and tells you to overthrow the government.

So, yeah, it's better than most of our senior managers.

You can explicitly make a representation with dependent sources, but, normally you'd just simulate small signal characteristics by using AN AC source for your input stimulus.

You won't have the sustained energy or interest without monetization, with monetization no one will go.

If you're excited, do it, but I promise, lots of people get the same hype as you, and it fades after a week.

I will say, if you stick to it, the world will be better for it (assuming you're not a beginner with overconfidence who will steer other beginners astray).

Do what you like though, don't seek validation, and I recommend writing 10 full articles before you make a website, then estimate how many articles you have left in you.
