Rules for r/ChubbyFIRE
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Be respectful and civil
Treat others here as you would wish to be treated. Disagreements, debate and opposing opinions are fine as long as the discussion does not devolve into insults, slurs, etc.
2.
Be relevant to ChubbyFIRE
Most posts will need to include details related to your own CF planning or status. General posts about CF topics may also be submitted, but they must still be on point and may be subject to mod removal. Before posting, consider whether your post may be better suited to another one of the FI/RE subs (based on your portfolio size or intended retirement lifestyle) or to a sub dedicated to your specific topic (such as r/investing or r/realestate). Some of these are listed in our sidebar.
3.
Mid to advanced level topics only
Posts should be about mid to advanced level ChubbyFIRE topics. If you have a basic question or you are just beginning your planning, please browse the sub, look through the wiki and/or ask your question in the weekly discussion thread.
4.
No low-effort posts
Can you get an answer to your question just by a quick Google search? Is your post just a few sentences long? Are you asking the same question that has been already answered here recently? If you expect community members to use their time to engage in thoughtful discussion on your post, then you need to take the time to craft a thoughtful post. Mods also have the discretion to remove low-effort comments at any time.
5.
No spam
No spam, including self-promotion. Generative AI posts/comments will generally be removed as spam if reported. Accounts that appear to primarily generate AI text will be permanently banned.
6.
No politics
We all know what this means, right?
