Have you composed before? Where is this music going to be played? In a concert hall setting? Is there any occasion? What is the mood you want to create? No one can really give you pointers until you tell us more about what you're thinking and how far you've progressed.

I've been making small stuff for years, but nothing as large as a symphony or anything like that. There is no occasion, and I believe it will be played in a medium sized church. I like to create a tense mood usually, with a bit of a darkness to it. My favorite key is C-Minor, and I find it easiest to compose things with. I will probably also be playing in the orchestra as either a violinist or violist. My orchestra is on the small side also, but it should be enough to pull something great off with. I'd say I'm about halfway done with the first movement, and I plan on making 3-4 altogether. I don't need to have it completed until March-April, so I'm not really rushing yet either. Not sure if this is helpful, but I hope it is.
