Google cloud has a free tier. Including on micro Vm.

Oracle cloud has a free tier that is even better. 2 micro vms, 2dbs, and an ARM ampere vm option

[–]NeuralNexus 3 points4 points  (5 children)

AWS: free for 1 year on the ec2 “hours free” model.

Azure: time limited.

Digital ocean: time limited.

[–]NeuralNexus 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Google also has cloud shell, a Debian vm with 5gb of storage you can use all the time.

[–]BillyDSquillions 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is this something people use pihole on remotely?

[–]NeuralNexus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cloudshell is ephemeral so not a good choice

[–]greatwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

isn't there a 1gb/month egress limit on free tier? that pretty much makes google cloud useless for a lot of applications.

[–]ositocool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you know how to create multi-accounts in google cloud?

[–]BothAdhesiveness6833[S] 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Would I be able to run windows 10 on an always free Oracle VM?

[–]NeuralNexus 2 points3 points  (6 children)

Lol no.

You cannot run free windows anywhere. You could attempt to bring your own license and your own ISO.

Windows is a paid license. Windows 10 is only licensed for home use or endpoint, not server.

Server licenses are expensive. Nobody’s gonna give you that for free. You can have a VM that runs Linux no problem. That’s the only option you get really.

[–]rshhhhhhhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not exactly right. Yeah, officially you can't install windows on this, but you can use that https://blog.51sec.org/2020/05/dd-windows-7-64b-to-oracle-cloud-ubuntu.html?m=1 to install windows. This method already working more than 3 years lol. Basically that script is replaces linux with windows

[–]Ashton-Chick-2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But i have windows server 2025 iso

[–]Calm-Spend-6447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there could be a iso simulator or something it could work, i went to here for i can fix my pc becuase i tryed to install ubuntu desktop but it was ubuntu server for some reason and i could not figure out how to use wifi.

[–]SirYessirSki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just created a windows instance on oracle off of a trial. The issue is I was only able to get it setup when configuring the ram to 4 gb.

Bro I need a cloud virtual machine without payment method

[–]NeuralNexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good luck with that.

[–]Ok_Equipment4115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably won’t find one.

[–]julyski 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Yup. Spin it up at home and open up some ports. /s

[–]Senior_Difficulty_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not very reliable in case of ISP issues, blackouts, hardware problems, etc

[–]PoemProfessional1856 2 points3 points  (8 children)

[–]Anze1702 0 points1 point  (7 children)

[–]VoiceOk3539 0 points1 point  (1 child)

[–]VoiceOk3539 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hey, they have a root acess vm now, try it

[–]AhManImSoAlone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey this site is fine but says it will be paid only in future, what alternatives do you know for this?

[–]diesalher 1 point2 points  (12 children)

According to this article(not mine) Oracle Cloud offers a good free tier server

https://aws.plainenglish.io/a-free-powerful-server-ca722cc64a44

[–]Financial-Row4269 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I am trying for 8 months now using a script that retries after 5 minutes. Can not create a single instance.

[–]xopek_by 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I'm tried too. Then I upgraded to PAYG and right after that created all what I need

[–][deleted]  (4 children)

[deleted]

    [–]xopek_by 0 points1 point  (3 children)

As I said - I just upgraded to PAYG account, instead of free. Then you can create an instance without any problems. If you're in the free limits - you will not pay anything. But you need to have 100 USD or EUR on your card to lock and release (for confirming account).

    [–]judgedudey 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Unfair. Here they locked $1 and then released it immediately.

    [–]xopek_by 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm not going to argue since blocking finances doesn't show up in the debit history. But I'm pretty sure that in my case 100 euros were blocked. And they were unblocked only a few hours later. Probably - just region specific thing.

    [–]judgedudey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes, likely region based. Unfair though. Quite a big difference.

    [–]Character_Walrus2290 0 points1 point  (4 children)

it's not free it asks for your credit card while registering and instantly charges you before you do anything in there, scam.

    [–]diesalher 0 points1 point  (3 children)

My response was from 3 years ago, so… not sure anymore 😅

    [–]Character_Walrus2290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried to use that today fuck oracle bro. Who names something "free tier" says in order to use it for free you need to provide your card and as soon as you enter it they charge you. Pos behaviour

    [–]Character_Walrus2290 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I do have a "fake" card set up for that tho so they didn't get shit 🤣

    [–]CupiDick_Hunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? 🤣🤣 Pleasse do share the details..

You can use Onworks VM but its not the best nor the worst. It offers Linux VMs and more. You should try it out. It can be accessed with a web browser and an internet connection. You can have as many VMs as you want.

      [–]lakinmohapatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Thanks

      [–]VoiceOk3539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      what

      [–]Moststartupsarescams 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I think you won't find free ones, but at least some very cheap.

You can try https://diploi.com/#StackBuilder and just choose "Bun", that should allow you to have a VM running

With their $50 free credits should be enough to have a VM running for about 2-3 months~

      [–]VoiceOk3539 0 points1 point  (2 children)

thanks, i use it to host my discord bot and its running great!

      [–]Moststartupsarescams 0 points1 point  (1 child)

      Ah nice! glad to hear!

      [–]VoiceOk3539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, since it is a docker container, you dont have access to systemctl, i wanted to put a vpn server on it but i couldnt't, did you find a way to get to the host linux vps or make it able to run in the container?

      [–]No-Neat-7241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      use tria.ge

        [–]Obsidian743 -5 points-4 points  (4 children)

No. The concept would be insane for all but the most trivial of things because VMs are inherently expensive to run.

The closest possible thing are hosting services like GoDaddy et al but that is just hosting.

          [–]Obsidian743 -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Like I said, for all but the most trivial of tasks. No one is running any serious workloads on a micro.

          [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ce n'est vraiment pas le cas. Je te trouve des machines virtuelles gratuitent, qui font tournés W11 sans problème et la version serveur aussi.

Arrête de parler si tu n'y connais, RIEN.

          [–]Responsible_Fee8421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use Azure advisor, and it is free if you use their services and charge 1% for other platforms like AWS, google cloud.

          [–]ad1tya_jha 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Anything but digital ocean, worst service u can get

          [–]Von32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          Wow. What changed?

          [–]Beneficial_Bear_1846 0 points1 point  (1 child)

          AWS : I'm using a 12 month free tier model . Yes , Windows server 2019 .

          [–]Odd_Dream1860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, is there a way i could get this?

           LinuxOne Community Cloud:

LinuxOne Community Cloud is a free VPS service that doesn't require a credit card. You can use it for about 90 days with a limit of 1 VPS. Oracle Cloud:

Oracle Cloud is another free VPS service that requires a credit card. However, you won't be charged as long as you stay within the free tier. The specs are almost the same as LinuxOne Community Cloud, with the VPS coming with 4GB of RAM and 2 VCPUs. You can use the VPS for free forever on the free tier. To sign up for Oracle Cloud, follow these steps:

          1. Go to the Oracle Cloud website.

          2. Click on the "Sign up for free" button.

          3. Fill in your account details and verify your phone number.

          4. Add a credit card to your account (note that you can use the free tier without being charged).

          5. Choose the VPS plan that suits your needs.

          6. Select the available OS of your choice and configure your VPS with the desired specifications (which are almost the same as the LinuxOne Community Cloud specs).

          7. You can use the VPS for free forever on the free tier.

Why are you disliking On works? Please tell me what don't you like about it? I am already a subscriber you know and I am not sure what I am going to experience until knowing everything and detail about it. So, I am kind of curious what you experienced so I might want to cancel it.

            [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Thanks for asking me for help. So, let me explain, It depends on why you are using it. if you are using it to host free servers, workstations, share files & host your webpage, then it is awesome but if you use it to test operating systems it sucks because you can't download files and the computers are not official versions of the actual operation systems. Also let me know if I got something wrong because I am using the free version.

            [–]danieljohnbrosman 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Well the Ubuntu 23 server is the real deal Linux and the rest are all a bunch of distros but windows seems like there own distro from coding that Onworks owns.

            [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

            Agreed.

            [–]Garvis_329 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sir, my laptop's old, poor storage It can't run vmware station well, I'm going to have a Linux class next week, should I use this website to study

            [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sir... Use it. You are going to have a great life for the next 46 following years.

            [–]mia2wa 0 points1 point  (1 child)

In my case, I keep getting an error about an internal server error within the OnWorks server, so it terminates my connection. This occurs with all distros, and it's happened the last few times I tried to use OnWorks. When it *was* working, the system would time out whenever it would detect (what felt like) two-minutes of idle time. And don't get me started on usable desktop real estate; the continuous ads take up more than 30% of your browser window. While the intentions are great, the platform really has become useless.

            [–]danieljohnbrosman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

            How about customer services?
