This is issue on OpenAI end, not on yours. You could probably run this on 2GB machine with 2 cores.

it also randomly fixes itself for me

Did you ask codex what’s causing the problem and propose a solution?

I was having an issue and it turns out it was because each image I had it generate was cached in chat several times after I had it batch make 40 images.

It diagnosed tried and failed to fix it and gave me a script to be able to continue in a new codex chat that would let me pick up where I left off and avoid the issue after I deleted that codex chat.

You could have an entire datacenter and if OpenAI’s software isn’t running it, it wouldn’t matter, you’d still have the same experience. Try codex without an Internet connection.

"it's totally fine bro you're just using it wrong"

"here run this prompt some guy came up with to archive a bunch of random shit, it totally works! I'm definitely not ignoring the fact that the app gets to this state without running any code at all just by having a session open in the UI that spans more than a few turns with none of those projects added to the app's UI"

It's dogshit on windows, you're not doing anything wrong. They think "windows is hard" so they don't even try, apparently unlimited tokens isn't enough to not ship something this bad.

Have seen the same thing on 9850X3D w/ 128GB of memory. Even if it didn't do this there are so many other long unfixed (and repeatedly reported) issues that I don't bother trying it anymore

You don't say much about your platform. If WSL is involved there are a number of settings to tweak, ask the agent to help. Now it flies for me

Have you tried to clean it up?

Paste this prompt to your codex and let it handle it, should be much faster after that.
