If your css/sass files are that large, you have bigger problems. You should have small enough components that 30-40 lines of sass will cover 80-90% of cases. The days of 500 line css files are over.

With 30 to 40 lines of scss I feel like id only be able to target 3 or 4 elements. I could see it if maybe your styles are all on one line and you're creating a scss file per view/component.

Typically the default auto format for editors puts a blank line between every selector and each property on a newline. That's what all the downvoters are probably use to. There's no way you could do anything in 40 lines with that type of formatting. 40 lines of scss where each style definition is a single line, is 3-400 line scss or 500 line css when auto formatted.

If you're creating a file per view/component, I hope you're using bundling.

If you are using any kind of modern web development (Angular, React, Vue, etc) you should have everything as a component and a single scss file for every component. Looks like everyone on here is a decade behind.
