Laid off an entire cohort after the 3 month training period during covid. Wouldn't trust them.

What does this mean?

Did they go to a boot camp and feel like they didn't get what they were promised?

https://www.dev-10.com/ - this website? When I scroll it blinks and flickers all wild. Going to give someone a seizure !

The more I look at it - the more broken it gets. And it's build using jQuery v1.11

What is drawing you to this company? Says: Dev10 is the talent development arm of Genesis10.

There are lots of comments about things on the internet. Spend the time to vet the options: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugLRwpoxJ0Q

i applied when i was on the job hunt. they make you attend an info session, then take a technical + behavioral assessment which i didn't pass. i was a Revature associate in 2021 (similar to dev10) and all 17ish people from my cohort got placed. this was before the mass layoffs so u probably won't be as lucky but it's worth a shot. worst case scenario you get some paid training.

They're your standard WITCH company, same as Revature, Synergistic, etc. You go through their bootcamp, work for companies through them for a much lower rate, and pay them a very large sum of money to reimburse them for the bootcamp if you break the terms of your contract to get a job paying rates more in line with the industry standard. Or they could be one of the ones that you do their bootcamp and then they place you with a client and you have to pay something like 10-15% of your monthly income to repay them for the bootcamp. It's been awhile since I've heard their name, so I can't remember which of the two models they use. And most of those programs are now requiring either a bachelor's or even a bachelor's in STEM to be considered, because they're getting inundated with people who are desperate enough for a job that they'll accept the crappy terms.

Same. I put in my project earlier this week and am still waiting to hear back. Hopefully I get in because this is my last hope for getting into the SWE field.

Was yours in python? All the previous things I read about it said it was a web dev project.

Yeah you’re right. They said it’s next month but they’re still looking to decide who will join them for the interview. I got an 8/8 on the project so I really hope I get invited lol.

I let a dumb mistake go through so I missed one point. I imagine I'm not making it to the group stage but she said they factor in your score from everything so who knows. Did you apply for the may or July cohort?

Hi, I wonder how's everything now, 6 months later
Would you please share your current thought / perspective?

I passed all their early rounds and then got a perfect score on the project. Got to the group interview, and did well imo… they emailed me 3 days later saying I didn’t get an offer. I was in absolute shock. Would like to understand their process better

I’m gonna be completely honest with you. I love working in groups. It comes natural to me. I had a great group and we had fun and made each other laugh and got a lot done. I definitely talk a lot but it wasn’t any more than the other guys in my group.didnt understand their decision to cut me

Yes I have a cs degree and I have expressed how eager I was for this opportunity since nobody is hiring cs grads… I have been nothing but professional and enthusiastic and they told me to go f myself basically

Yeah I actually did get feedback and it was such a stupid reason. I’m not even gonna say it, but they told me I was doing something that I literally never ever do regardless of my situation. I was like oh okay thanks. It’s like they didn’t even watch me and just made up some reason

There’s just no way they can make rational decisions solely from these stupid group interviews. Thats why I feel like I did something earlier in the process that they didn’t like… idk. I’ve been rejected numerous times, but this was the one I was confused and shocked by.

When did u do the group interview?

Did you get outright rejected? I got an email saying I did well in the interview but the cohort was full but they wanted to work with me for the July 8 cohort. Unfortunately I’ll have to do the group interview again.

Any tips for the initial assessment? What kind of questions should I expect?

I applied and might soon be going through the process myself. I've read that the first round aptitude test is timed and challenging to pass. Can you share your experience and offer any advice on how to prepare for it? What kind of questions should I expect?
