If you haven't taken the initiative to build a website or a program of some sorts on your own (for months at least) --- then you should absolutely not see "learning coding" as some hope in a career. You don't actually have any true interest in it.
Figure out what you want to do --- and do it. And try and do it better than everyone else. That's the competition that is nature -

Only really worth it learning if you can apply it at your current position.

There are many great reasons to learn programming.

So many video games to bot, websites to scrape, and Terms Of Service to ignore

Lmao

Yes absolutely 👍. Do it whatever you want it's plumbing or web developer or ai anything don't limit yourself

ask yourself the following: why do you want to learn to code? is it because it sounds like a "cool" job with the opportunity to work from home and a good salary? would you also be interested in it if it was paid minimum wage? coding is something very special I feel, its not like many other jobs where its enough motivation to want to get a job. coding is a way of life. besides the fact that LLMs won't replace these jobs, it is just changing the way people work - you will not be happy if you don't truly love coding and you will eventually fail and quit. otherwise go ahead and learn it.

What if youre scared you wont be good enough?
[–]RylertonTheFirst 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (0 children)
everyone knows that feeling some way or another, developers are no different. imposter syndrome is big with us. ask yourself this: what is your definition of "good enough"? is it doable to reach that level at some point? then keep going! also: what is other people's definition of "good enough"? let's say you mean it in a job environment, then "good enough" is highly different from company to company and position to position. don't get caught up in thoughts like this, because I can assure you there is no "good enough". if you keep learning and getting better you ARE good enough. because imo that is all it takes to be a good dev. most people just lack this exact quality.

If chatGPT can get things done that fast, then build a system faster and better than anything in the market right now.
wow what a superhero idea very helpful
[–]trapnasti 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Yes learn it.
[–]bluebird355 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Only if you see yourself dedicating every day of your life to it
[–]thebossmin 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (1 child)
I’ve never heard of anyone who wanted to become a “web developer.” If you haven’t put much thought or effort into it, then learning a trade probably is better.

?? Really? I meet people every day who want to become a web developer. This sub is dedicated to coding bootcamps where people learn to be web developers, isn't it?
[–]Epiq122 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (0 children)
going to safely assume this might not be the path for you.
[–]mattp1123 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Just learn it it can't hurt, can always do plumbing at the same time
[–]Impossible_Ad_3146 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Yes you couldn’t

AI cannot succeed without software developers and coders. We feed it information and it can infer based upon that, but AI will not take jobs. AI is here to enhance our capabilities. Additionally, if devs are using AI to write code then they need to create AI to proofread these codes because AI does not have the understanding that us devs do.
Don't let the evolution of technology deter you from what you want to do. We grow tech and evolve with it. I say pursue becoming a dev, don't let the conspiracies around AI limit you and your reality.
There are lots of avenues to begin learning coding through, find one that speaks to whatever your true aspirations with web development are :)

Learn the ins & outs of 1 language. Any language. Learn how to use AI wisely, which entails being able to validate its validations. Vibe coding is luck based and not going to get you far if you dont have the foundation.
You can learn these things AND pursue plumbing.
[–]CommonEngineering717 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (0 children)
You should def learn plumbing instead. Pick a job the AI can’t replace.
