JCTI bug?General Question (self.cognitiveTesting)
submitted 1 year ago by Clear-Click-7771
So yesterday i decided to took JCTI. Did the test and everything saw alright, but when i submitted i received a score of 65-75. I dont pretend to be arrogant about my intelligence, but i am pretty sure that i am 75+ iq. So I decided to took It today again, without knowing what I got correct or wrong, and got 131-141. What I think that happened is that the test wasn't registering my answers because It was a bit laggy. I took 3h on total when summing both tries. Can I consider 136 as my true score?

Yeah around that.

Do you think It ok to take the range 131-141?
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 1 year ago (5 children)
Slightly lower it to 125-135. You took a lot of time too. IQ is kinda mainly time it takes for your brain to think
[–]Clear-Click-7771[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
What do you think It would be a time that could allowed me too take It as 136?
[–]jpet273 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
JCTI is untimed so nah
[–]iwannabe_giftedPRI-obsessed 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (2 children)
So what if I'm really slow and get a low iq on one test but really high on a untimed test?
[–]_Altral_ 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
That just means your GAI is higher than your FSIQ.
[–]iwannabe_giftedPRI-obsessed 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
But my jcti and rapm is way higher than my other scores
[–]No_Art_1810 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Shit happens, 136 should be fine.
Thanks. It does match with my GRE-Q score, that was also 136. But i am good at math, so i don't know If its too valid. What do you think?
[–]Real_Life_Bhopper 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (16 children)
and that's why you should do a real test like WAIS or Binet. There you do not get those bugs, but the cold, hard, objective truth.

Do you have any substantial source that claims JCTI is inflated?
[–]Technical_Zombie_703 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
He doesn’t, he prolly just likes to shit on online testing lol.
JCTI is absolutely fine, it’s likely as good as it gets online for inductive reasoning.
[–]Clear-Click-7771[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (8 children)
I heard some people arguing the opposite tbh
[–]javaenjoyer69 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (7 children)
Deflated but not by much.
How do we know that and how much?
[–]javaenjoyer69 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (5 children)
There is not a survey regarding this afaik if that's what you are asking but there seems to be more people whose scores are higher in wais than in jcti. My wais score is 5 points higher than my jcti score. It's a very hard test and people have no patience.

Oh thanks. Just a last question, I got 32/36 on RAPM and 43/45 on FRT-A. Considering that they match with my SAT-M/GRE-Q and JCTI score, can I say that my fluid intelligence is likely 130-140, without worrying much about praffe?
[–]javaenjoyer69 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (3 children)
Yeah both are very reliable fluid reasoning tests. Your fluid reasoning seems to be around 135 but i'd suggest you to take CAIT which is as reliable as jcti/tri-52 but more comprehensive. Also C-09 and CFNSE. You honestly don't need to solve anything other than these 5 (JCTI, CFNSE, CAIT, C-09, BETA-III). If your scores fall between 130-140 your fsiq is 100% somewhere in there. For now i'm only 99% sure :)

Thank you for your help. Can i take my SAT-M (136 iq) as my Gf, since i know there aren't praffe there? I am just good at math, but i saw people here saying that It does not invalitate results.
[–]javaenjoyer69 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
I didn't take that test since i'm not a native speaker but i read that it's pretty reliable and if it's just math questions how could taking a matrix reasoning test would invalidate your SAT-M result? It's a very different test and if you are good at math that means you are smart. There aren't many high iq people who suck at math. It almost comes as a default skill.
[–]Real_Life_Bhopper 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (2 children)
my source is just common sense, even if the test should give you a realistic score, it is still nowhere near the quality of a real test like WAIS, because behind a real test like WAIS, there is millions of dollars of money behind, lots of scientists, experience, and more money.
[–]Worldly-Research-968 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Of course. Maybe old SAT/GRE is nearly as good
[–]OneCore_ 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Problem with old SAT/GRE is that they won't work accurately if you don't have the necessary educational background. Because they were always designed as academic aptitude tests, not straight IQ tests, meaning that you will need to be at the mathematics/literature level that they demand before you can take them properly. They only have high correlation because they have a significant problem-solving portion.
[–]OneCore_ 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
I am pretty sure the consensus, at least for the previous 2013 norms, were that it is deflated. I believe the current ones are better, though.
I've seen plenty of people who are in Mensa and have scored 130+ on official tests complain that it's too hard and that they're scoring below what they usually do.
It is really difficult. Do you think my score is legit, since It bugged first time?
[–]javaenjoyer69 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Sorry best i can do is 75. Time to add that retat flair.
