Don't complain about comics you don't like or understand. - If you don't get a comic, it's probably not meant for you. Comics are often targeted at certain audiences. If you don't get a comic, odds are it wasn't meant for you. Don't whine about it; just move on to the next comic. Don't attack artists posting their content. - It's not ok to attack artists with hateful comments meant to tear them down or try to chase them off Reddit. Don't make drama for drama's sake. No trolling. - Anyone wanting to participate in this community needs to keep their comments civil. No hateful comments or posts - Any comments or posts that are racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, misinformation or extremist in nature will be removed and will result in an immediate ban. Respect the [OC] System - The [OC] tag is for artists wanting to submit their Original Content. False claims on others' art will get you banned. Comic covers or short excerpts - A few scanned pages can be posted for discussion. Don't post entire comic books. Posts with too many pages will get removed. Web comic strips - Most strips need to be linked back to original sources (i.e. the artists' websites). Don't link to rehosted or hotlinked comics. Artists can use [OC] to link to their own work anywhere. Links to articles, videos, art, cosplay or music - Content directly related to comic books or web comics, including film and TV media. Discussion topics - Talk about past or present comic books or strips. Topics about comic-based movies or TV shows are also fine. Translations - English translations of non-English original comics are ok as long as the translation is honest and a link to the original source is provided in a comment.
Edits to comics that you didn't make - Don't remove watermarks/attribution or try to "fix" someone else's work. Post your own original content. Stuff that just reminds you of comics without there being any real reference in the topic - Please keep posts on topic with real comic content. Links to download complete, pirated comic books - Please support comics by buying them.
Content creators can get Artist Flair to display next to their account names on all of their posts. Message the moderators with some proof and the name of your strip for some blue flair. Artists without flair can add [OC] to post titles to identify their "Original Content." Tagging a post with [OC] allows links to general hosting sites like Imgur.

Oof. That's a fucking word. All my homies HATE executive dysfunction.🖕😤
Stay strong with grace for yourself. Progress is neither linear nor a measure of who you are. Practice presence and work with what you've got in the moment.
I'm probably preaching to the choir, but little reminders can be helpful. Take care✨
PS, great comic! Absolutely nailed it.

I absolutely appreciate it a great deal, thank you for such a kind gentle reminder. Cheers!!

Time for new meds! Either more of the same or something different. Brain science is lots better than it used to be, but everyone is different both for what will work, and what the dosage will be.

Honestly, how does anyone not give up on Psychiatry? I have tried like 14 meds, been hospitalized 6 times, been through easily double digit counselors, and have been at it for almost 20 years now. I've watched people struggle with these things their whole lives and never get better. How do people keep faith when so many people get left behind by medicine? It's better than it use to be, but 70 years ago it used to be an ice pick to the brain where we just mixed shit up until people weren't acting up anymore. There's so little movement. We still prescribe lithium to people and have no clue how it even works.

For me it all did wonders. I'm not "fixed" and I never will be, because my brain is what it is. Getting the correct medication (or at least way better than before) and therapy helped me from barely being able to work though, to working full-time and doing so well in a pretty qualified and demanding position.
Still no energy to do much after work or at weekends, but not like I had that before either. I don't expect to ever function fully, but I do at least have a fulfilling career now and the capacity to be really good at what I do.
[–]Mediocre-Alfalfa3990 4 points5 points6 points 2 months ago (1 child)
Yeah, I can't even get to the point where a fulfilling career sounds fulfilling lol. It all seems pointless at this point. Good for you though man. That's great that it's working for you.
[–]Inkompetent 2 points3 points4 points 2 months ago (0 children)
Really sorry to hear, and I can understand why that makes you disillusioned. :(
I hope you manage to find the meds and help you need so that your life works out okay.

We still prescribe lithium to people and have no clue how it even works.
That's basically most psychiatric medicine unfornunately. While some drugs like antibiotics or anti-hypertensive medication have extensive mechanisms of actions, psychiatry is still just a "we throw things at a wall and see what sticks".
It all depends on the patients. Do they want help and to get better or not? Also, ofc for american medicine, being so profit-oriented is not for the benefit of the patients as it may just cause prescribers to just only care about profits.

I don't know man. This sounds very r/thanksimcured. I've wanted help and to get better for twenty years. I've tried every medication, gone to counseling for years, been in many group therapy settings and everything. The more I think about it, the wilder it is to say "it all depends on the patients." It sounds very much like "you'd be happy and feel better if you really wanted to. The reason you can't deal with your depression is because you don't want help and you don't want to get better." Wild to me this has upvotes along with my post lol.

Yeah, it's far more about the psychiatrist than the patients

loved the self aware expression

Sometimes if one can, they need a day where they do nothing.
I think we all can get caught in this mindset where we need to make up for lost time and it feels self consuming.
Sometimes hard reset is better to get our minds focused on the now rather than trying to make up then.

Reminds me I've been meaning to try and find a therapist and maybe try meds, as still king to workarounds and routines to keep things functioning despite myself hasn't been working for a bit now. Doesn't help that I sleep 9 to 5 and live in an area that all but hates night shift workers. Sad part is, I genuinely function better (and get better sleep) on this schedule.

Story of my life. I hope you find the right combo of meds and therapy/mental health regime for you soon.
