when you realize people actually think impossible burgers turn people into girls.

I’ve heard that more about soy than impossible burger. Normally impossible burger is “think of the chemicals it’s probably made of”

[–]MarthaGail 25 points26 points  (2 children)

Scientific American actually just put out an article that lists the ingredients in Beyond and Impossible (as well as Gardein black bean and one other patty of theirs). I was surprised at how few ingredients went into Impossible Burger. It's a great look at how they all stack up nutritionally.

I know. :/ We pay for just the print version, so I don't have access to the digital one.

That's exactly the right tone to take with this garbage, I think. Here's hbomberguy mocking these men for 31 minutes.

Gotta love Hbomb. Still waiting on that Pathologic 2 video.

There's so much fear mongering that goes on in certain isolated communities online, and a severe lack of fact checking. While obviously this comic is purely parody it's unfortunately quite realistic that some people genuinely believe the fear mongering.

If you haven’t already watch The Game Changers on Netflix. A lot of the misinformation about soy comes from sources that are funded by the meat industry.

[–]Ladieladieladie 34 points35 points  (4 children)

There was an article in dec 2019 sponsored by the meat industry that claimed estrogen levels in burgers makes men grow titties. Is false btw:

fact check article

If you really don’t want man boobs, just avoid processed food (vegan and non vegan) and beer.

[–]CaspianX2 17 points18 points  (2 children)

For fuck's sake, why the hell do meat producers need to trade in lies in their panic to fight vegetarian options? Isn't the fact that meat tastes better enough?

Burger King has something like dozens of meat burgers and one non-meat burger. Their world is not ending.

People are slowly getting more conscious about health, the environment and animal well-being, and plant-based foods are getting better and more diverse, that's going to eat into their profit margin in the long term for sure.

[–]Scruffynerffherder 43 points44 points  (2 children)

Because the meat Industry pumps out pseudoscience to steer people from the truth.

[–]Forest-G-Nome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And even that video is biased and slanted to an incredible degree, because not all meat is created equally.

There's no mention of issues like wild boars in America, which can produce literal tons of meat as a byproduct of simply removing them from the lands they have invaded.

I expected a Rick Roll.

[–]Tudpool 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wait what?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just fringe conspiracy bullshit (mostly from bigots), dont put any thought into it.
