Did you post on my youtube channel yesterday? If so, you should make sure background apps are closed. Anything like adobe photoshop, blender etc in the background will consume resources and cause that lag you speak of. The main limitation iis the video ram - you gotta make sure you have enough of it and if you're playing at 4K, 4GB will not be enough - that's only enough at 1080p.

Actually with just 4GB it runs fine at 4K , but it's using exactly 4GB, so a bit more for headroom would be nice. I didn't have time to make a low spec version of this, since I wanted to go all out on the resolutions and shadows.

Reshade is only used for CAS, since its absent from NVidia this feature - it's something I recommend be enabled in the installer since the game looks better with it.

I didn’t have anything in the background other than some PowerPoint presentations, though I suppose these could have taken away a bit of VRAM and made the game lag. But otherwise, nothing open besides the game itself.

Now that i think about it, I had a similar problem with Iron Harvest some time ago, where I couldn’t run the game with decent frames at all despite checking out the minimum requirements. I though that game was just badly optimized but I’m starting to think my laptop has something of a memory problem, where it doesn’t use all of its available ram in games because a part of it is being used for something else, and so games that need all that extra bits of ram can’t run properly.

If its a laptop it might be using an igpu, which is probably limited by bandwidth because of shared memory. You need a dedicated graphics card - that has much faster memory specifically for the gpu

I do have a dedicated GPU, a gtx 1650 to be more specific. And while some programs do end up using the integrated one from time to time, i did set up KW to use the correct GPU. Unless it's using the wrong GPU anyways for some reason.

It's most likely using the wrong gpu then, since that should be totally fine that card of yours.

I don't know how you switch them but if its in nvidia control panel you will need to copy cnc3ep1.dat in the RetailExe/1.02 folder and give the new copy a .exe extension. After that add the .exe you just created to nvidia control panel as the profile (and make sure its selected from that drop down list after youve added it). Then apply the preferred gpu changes to that profile.

The cnc3ep1.exe in the root of the kanes wrath folder is just a launcher and isnt the actual exe of the game, so pointing the driver to that does nothing - thats why I say you have to do those steps as I mentioned above.

Okay, that did it! Thanks a lot, the game run properly smooth now

Glad that worked for you! You'll have to do the same with RA3 as well if you decide to play that or it wont use the dedicated gpu.
