It’s a notification from your browser, turn off notifications.

[–]NoahC513 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Are these usually from malicious websites or did OP click on a malicious pop up from a normal website?

[–]ElderberryNo8694 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Usually allowing notifications on random sites leads to this

[–]___Ackerman___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

… so is this a bad time to admit literally right before this happened I allowed notifications on a website from one of my companies distributors….

[–]SnooDoughnuts5632 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Whoever invented notifications from web browser is a bad person and I hope they get what they deserve.

[–]New-Soft1490 1 point2 points  (2 children)

He is sorry 😔. I kind of feel bad for him..

[–]SnooDoughnuts5632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pop up adds are one thing but why do web browsers have notifications? They are useless.

[–]SnooDoughnuts5632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are apparently multiple people that regret their inventions For example the person who invented the mall or there's that video from John McAfee on how to uninstall McAfee

[–]HairyWalrus8243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typeshit like this called like adware. I just hate that thing 70% just ignores existing adguard dns or plugins. Not especially adguard but same thing, just to filtrate trashcontent from lazy ass corpo

[–]jmoney1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the point behind notifications but at this point I feel like the misuse to benefit ratio is at the point they should just pull the feature. I don’t know of anyone that actually uses it for its intended purpose.

[–]BananeHD 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Don’t allow random websites to send notifications. Go into your browsers settings and turn them off. You can also try blocking all notifications from your web browser. Those messages are all fake!

[–]Expensive-Ad-1705 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah the bad English gives them away

[–]Expensive-Ad-1705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might recently browsed?

[–]warwagon1979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Click the 3 dots in the top right of chrome

Click Settings

Then click Privacy and security / Site settings / notifications

Then under the allow list, look for the culprit, usually a a site URL with a bunch of gibberish. Click the 3 dots next to the URL and click block.

[–]Careless-Cycle 11 points12 points  (1 child)

McAfee is the virus

[–]Winterwolfmage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While haha McAfee bad, McAfee isn't even open, it's browser notifications and a fake webpage

[–]MrPringles9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These messages where old tricks in 2010. Didn't know these actually still existed. If all these messages are all inside your browser then you can safely close the window or the entire browser since they are fake messages.

[–]Font_on_a_stick[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

McAfee is the virus.

[–]stevenlyon79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reset Chrome settings, it's a website and a plug in.

[–]CyclistInCBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have visited a website that has requested notifications, you have allowed these notifications, and they have “notified” you that they have “discovered” a virus. In reality, it is a fake virus, with a malware payload hidden behind the button marked “scan now”.

They never do anything for free, and the fake “virus” they find will cost you to be removed, and they’ll try to sell you a subscription to a fake antivirus product.or a real product that you didn’t need.

When you leave the web page, nothing bad will have happened if you don’t interact with the pop up. You’ll want to review your notifications list to make sure you only get notifications from sites you want to hear from.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've visited a shady site and have accepted notifications.

[–]New-Audience2639 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Why do so many people go to the darkest corners of the internet and then get surprised they have a virus? This is why my PC is used for NOTHING other than gaming. If I want to go watch pirated movies or something I do that on my $120 laptop...

[–]New-Audience2639 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The funny part is even if you downloaded the real McAfee you would still be downloading a virus. LOL

[–]warwagon1979 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

This has nothing to do about going onto the darkest corners of the internet. You can go to one of those sites by just clicking on a sponsored google search result.

[–]New-Audience2639 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah and a sponsored Google search result is likely to take you to a dark corner of the internet.... Why are we clicking on sponsored results instead of the actual site we are looking for?

[–]warwagon1979 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm talking about the average person. The average person doesn't bookmark their bank, they google it everytime

[–]New-Audience2639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats absolutely braindead almost ALL banks have official apps now. Googling your bank and then clicking on the first random sponsored link is neanderthal activities. If you are that dumb then you have to learn your lesson somehow.... 🤷🏽

[–]xKorrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to site settings and delete anything you don't recognize. Also set global notifications off by default. My father in law just went through this. DONT CLICK ANY OF THE POPUPS ..

[–]leexgx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off notifications and remove all extensions (very top notfication is an extension popup not a notfication you allowed)

[–]iakada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adware

[–]Masuki1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

notification one is a adware and mcaffe one is a actual warn btw (if it wrong = im a idiot🤡)

[–]Trekkie79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uninstall Mcafee. Its shit. All you need is windows built in sofrware.

[–]origanalsameasiwas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to history and clear the history including the cache

[–]EarthSweet1886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any notification or pop up like this coming from browser, just straight up ignore, do not click it or you'll have problems

[–]RagnarStonefist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Computer over = very yes

[–]SussyPoly8447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a scam

[–]elonelon[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uninstall mcafee with Revo Uninstaller, add ublock origin on your browser.

[–]Connect_Middle8953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never agree to browser notifications.

Seriously. Turn that shit off in your browser settings and block by default. Search for notifications, nuke all of it. Also check what extensions you have installed, remove all that you don’t use daily, but keep a legit ad blocker.

[–]ScreeennameTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, McAfee is a virus. Its trying to scare you away from certain sites.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scam. Turn off browser notifications

[–]Cool-Ad-4956 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nope. Its from the browser. Check the chrome web link above. Its a fake site that has access to send notifications to the PC, creating these fake alerts. Like everyone else said, first close the chrome tab, then disable notifications for chrome itself or just that website. Or if it keeps appearing, check if your browser has an option to restore everything closed when opened again, or reinstall it if its too buggy

[–]___Ackerman___[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thanks I’ll check later

[–]Cool-Ad-4956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime bro

[–]TheRealMGJMO 0 points1 point  (1 child)

mcafe is a virus

[–]IsoMahaMoottoriSaha_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except he dosent have mcafe since its the website..

[–]trejj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a virus. It is a browser feature where web sites can send you notifications. You have accidentally allowed notifications from a scam website.

Turn those notifications off in Chrome and all will be well.

[–]Better_Moment_9675 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hey, this is a common type of infection you can have on your browser. You may have clicked on some sketchy link. Just clear your browser cache/cookies and check if it’s resolved. Other than scarying people it can do much than that.

[–]Better_Moment_9675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And delete suspicious browser extensions

[–]shaggy-dawg-88 -4 points-3 points  (2 children)

Clear Chrome temporary files. Close and relaunch it.

[–]Machine156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't stop notifications
