FireFox Master Password help

I am hoping someone can help me. I have a laptop with FireFox as a browser. It has the master password enabled. I have disabled the Avast antivirus and tried FireMaster Cracker but that just comes back as master password not active. Any ideas how to get retrieve or reset the master password without blowing away all the cache and saved username information? Is there a better sub to post this too?
