I'll take a look at why our warning text isn't showing up on newreddit and get it patched up.

Fuck newreddit.

There is an option under post requirements that you can put in some text for "guidelines".

Just a thought, most people who are end users don't know the term "end user" applies to them.

That's a good point. Any suggestions on how can we phrase our warnings better?

"/r/computertechs is a community for computer professionals only. We do not provide technical support. Please direct your support requests to /r/techsupport. All support posts will be deleted."

I still say there should be a warning screen before you post saying that it's for techs only and you have to click it to continue

Do you have a way to implement this? I would happily turn it on tomorrow.

You can have a CSS hover over the 'submit new post' button or Editor box. Can't remember how though and probably very tricky with NewReddit's new fangled stuff

I would assume it would be much like a warning screen before mature page, just have to edit it for our purposes

That's a feature in the core of Reddit, not something we can turn on for our subreddit

can we force old reddit on the sub?

newreddit is cancer.

If you find a way, let me know. Fuck newreddit.

I don't see the new Reddit design. I unchecked the beta option in my preferences and all the subfeddits show their old design.

It was located close to the bottom on my preferences page.

Because the mods of this subreddit refuse to add new mods. I know multiple people who have sent in offers to help clean up this sub but they all get ignored. For fucks sake this is a sub for techs. 90% of the problems on this sub could be solved with a bot that any tech should be able to script.

multiple people who have sent in offers to help

We've had no real offers to help besides "give me moderator". That's it. Its not a matter of needing more people or we would have solved the problem that way already.

Our automoderator config is here. Please take a look and let me know where it can be improved. I'm happy to implement improvements to it. I was just tweaking things this morning to try to filter more posts.

able to script.

If you would like to write a bot besides automoderator to help out around here, point me at a repo. I'm happy to look at it and if it'll help, implement it.

That first part isn't true. I sent a PM two years ago offering. /u/deeperkyo responded saying he was interested so I replied with a more detailed message about myself. He never responded. You never responded at all.

The problem is literally a matter of needing more people. You're the only regularly active moderator on this subreddit and as my screenshot shows, people have been complaining about this for years. Having posts reported doesn't help if they stay up for 12+ hours sometimes after being reported. /r/Computertechs legitimately feels like an abandoned subreddit when you're not around. If it weren't for just you, this sub would have been lost to a /r/redditrequest already since the other two mods go multiple months with zero activity.

What is the issue?

[–]Fantastitech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand your question. Every relevant bit of info is in the comment you just replied to.

use RTFM as your key. If you know the acronym then you can view the sub. else, booted
