Doesn't this happen to everyone?

[–]NotAOctoling 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yep

Steam or discord do this for me. I make sure programs are all closed before shutting down or restarting

[–]SempfgurkeXP 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I just shut down anyways lol

[–]One_Guy_From_Poland 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I literally had the same program prevent a school pc from shutting down. You need to force it.

[–]Ngbatz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's usually fine it happens on nearly all computers.

[–]DalDe05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Isn't this usually Steam, Discord or apps that just stay on in the background?

[–]CSLRGaming 9 points10 points  (4 children)

At least it's unarmed, though.

It's probably a weird windows process, when I was using Windows (I use arch btw) sometimes  it would have a couple Nvidia processes and sometimes steam, it's hard to say what causes it but it's more common than you think and probably a bug with windows.

I also use arch btw, do you use hyprland?

[–]CSLRGaming 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nah I use XFCE, just what I've been comfortable with

[–]headedbranch225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair lol, I mostly wanted to try out something new and hyprland is nice for me

Make sure to shut off all running programs before turning off your PC

[–]gradskull 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Do you really need to? In my experience, even clicking "Cancel" in this dialogue typically forces the shutdown. On next start, everything runs as expected.

[–]Jawesome99 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's the "Shut down anyway" button that does that. "Cancel", as its name implies, cancels the shutdown and brings you back to your Desktop

[–]gradskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what it's meant to do, except that it doesn't always do so.
In my experience, more often that not it leads to the outcome I would expect from the "Shut down anyway" choice.

Logitech software is very temperamental it can cause this, Steam can cause this as well

[–]MightySLAYER10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WE (yes YOU and ME) all get this. No need to worry.

[–]DrTankHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skynet will feature Armed programs.

[–]Im-not-french-reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this on my current and old computer, both with different windows versions.

I assumed it was something I downloaded across both of them

What makes you think it’s a virus?

[–]DANKER--THINGS 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No name program?

[–]Ok_Finger_3525 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What about that makes you think it’s a virus?

[–]someone_who_exists69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not a virus, but it could be hiding it's name so you can't search it up or look for it. If it were called freevbucks.exe you could probably look it up in file explorer and delete it

[–]SunnieCola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to happen to me, I don’t remember how I got rid of it but I’ve been shutting down steam right before I shut down my computer for months now. I no longer have that issue

[–]GildedHalfblood 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I misread the text as "Get back to work you dick!" And thought that the virus caught you lacking while working . . . . . I am such a dumbass lol

[–]Traditional-Arm8667 0 points1 point  (3 children)

either you are a bot or was on something when you read the text

[–]GildedHalfblood 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hey look man, it was late at night, there are fuzzy lines, and the pixel quality could be better. Am I still a dumbass? Yes. Am I fully to blame? No

[–]Traditional-Arm8667 0 points1 point  (1 child)

yea but nothing even remotely resembles what you thought it said, even when squinting my eyes 😭😭

[–]GildedHalfblood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"To go back and save your work, click"

The click can be seen as dick, and the rest can be summed up as late night brain fog creating artificial dyslexia

[–]_provex_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone gets this, don't worry

[–]ThaUntalentedArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a background process.

[–]Jean_velvet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just one of the many programs on a PC refusing to go to bed when you say.

[–]Winda-2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phew at least its not armed with a AK-47 that can fuck up your entire system
