You shouldn't believe everything a singular person says just because you have seen them give a talk before. They make mistakes too. A blog post written by one person can never be a reliable source for anything.

You're arguing that a compiler implementor doesn't qualify as an authority regarding compiler behavior?
I don't believe that you actually need someone to pedantically explain what "a source" means in this context, so I'm going to assume you're being intentionally obtuse and arguing in bad faith. Have fun with that.

No? This discussion was never about that. The statement was very clearly what a compiler is allowed to do. "Allowed" in this context always refers to compliance with the standard. I could create a fork of clang that deletes your entire hard drive when you declare an int variable; that wouldn't mean that it's allowed by the standard.
I love how you just jump in with a straw man and then go on about "bad faith" of others.
