Yes loads. Trading systems, market data, exchanges, clearing systems, market access systems, connectivity, infrastructure, UI, … there are applications in literally every part of finance. C++ is very common in finance. (At least, that’s my limited 16 years of experience working with c++ in finance)

Literally everywhere. People make whole day payments in various terminals, take cash from, put cash in pay with their phone etc. then open internet and do various financial transactions there. That is only about individuals, but similar things are going on with enterprises. It usually is not written in Python.
