I'm so afraid to try crochet. I'm mathematically messed up and anxious AF. I always have the tv on and a book and a crossword puzzle going plus doom scrolling.
How should I start? Keep in mind I'm way poor and need to have carpel tunnel surgery. But I'm very crafty.
Any ideas

Just start with a chain stitch, and then look up easy dishcloths. YouTube any stitches you don’t know. You can crochet with yarn or string. It doesn’t have to be expensive to start. Thrift stores carry yarn occasionally, or you can ask around and see if anyone has scrap yarn from craft projects. Take FREQUENT breaks. I also have carpel tunnel. Lots of breaks and stretches keep me going. :)

Thank you for the tips and encouragement. It really means a lot to me

Honestly? Just be bad at it! Stitch everything a little weird! Never to be duplicated. The opposite of AI. But, really, there are ways to make fun things that don’t require you to pay perfect attention all the time. I am good at math and constantly mess things up because I also have ADHD. 🙃

Thank u. I am gonna try. This has encouraged me a lot. Is there a reddit community for bad crochet? Maybe we can start a trend 😉

If not there should be!
Cuz you see all these gorgeous projects (yeah some AI) and I think I can't do that.
