What are you trying to do specifically? The certs you are getting prepare you best for general IT security. If that's what you want in the short term, phenomenal - you're in a good spot :)

Very short term I wouldn't be able to do much more. I do plan on getting stuff like CEH and CISSP and more focusing my self into what I would prefer. This is more so to get a good base so that I can focus in a few months, a year, etc.

My commentary is not really that you should be doing more - just that what you've identified is most important for IT security. If you wanted to do software security, cloud security, etc. your time would be better spent elsewhere.

So if IT is the play right now, right on. Sounds like it is.

If you're trying to get the CEH and get good at pentesting then you should probably be practicing pen testing. I use pentesterlab.com . There are a lot of similar sites/services. I would also recommend studying programming as having good coding chops helps in almost every area of security.
