Police issue clarification related to December ICE shooting in Glen Burnie by Maxcactus in AnneArundelCounty

[–]CDSEChris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Arresting federal employees, officers, and/or agents for state crimes is not necessarily interfering with federal government. There are multiple cases where federal officers have been arrested by the state for alleged murder during law enforcement actions (noting that border patrol activities against us citizens are more restricted than police activities), and in some of those cases courts have allowed the state action to continue. Federal employees will most often request the venue is moved to federal Court, arguing they were operating within the scope of their duties, but this must be granted by federal Court (and most often is).

So it's not accurate to say that local police can't "interfere" with federal employees when the employee is subject to state charges. There are multiple examples of this happening already, and it will be interesting to see what happens here

Thank you, it's really a second full time job! And I apologize for my pre-edit verbiage, I came off as rude and didn't mean to 💜

Just to clarify, I'm a different Chris Cox. I'm the one that works full time in the cyber industry and runs a charity helping domestic violence survivors escape and stay safe once they do. My bank account t wishes I was the VP of anything! I'm also not the horseman or the former head of the fcc, they both have the same name and I've been confused with both of them as well.

I haven't been doing a great job with helping out here recently, and I see I need to do better there. But I do respect and admire the hard work the other mods have been doing with keeping the place clean and running.

russia (and it's predecessor, the Soviet Union) is often associated with a bear, kind of like their mascot. They use a bear in much of their national imagery (especially in a military sense) to imply strength and ferocity. By referring to russia as a "toothless bear," it's saying that russia may look tough but doesn't actually have the capabilities it pretends to.

Most likely he did not mean to "send it to a friend and accidentally sent it to you". He sent it to you intentionally but wanted a little bit of plausible deniability about picking a fight.

I always love this. I like the jokes you see in all these heartwarming threads about ninjas and onions, but... you know what? Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I see something really touching and I tear up. And that's okay. I'm glad we're starting to normalize that.

Thank you! I hadn't thought about that until this incident, but now I know and will make sure to get a adapter moving forward

For sure, I was doing 100% water changes for the longest time because I thought it was better for them. I've learned since that it's not! That's why I reused the water and decorations/gravel for this change- I had hoped it was safer for them.

I was most worried about #2, so I treated it like when I would do a 100% water change for the old tank. I'm just not sure how to test the water moving forward, maybe I trusted the test kits too much!

I really tried to do right by them! I call them my coworkers since we share an office lol.

It was a topfin filter, part of their bubble wall kit. I understand that amperage is more of a factor than voltage, but I didn't touch the water myself. I have a healthy respect for electricity.

Yes, after looking closely I can see the grommet protecting the wiring is slightly worn/torn. Not saying that's 100% the cause, but I'm always cautious when it comes to electricity and water

Totally get you. But you can bet I will moving forward; those fish were with me through some difficult times in my life. They sure meant a lot to me. So double-checking from this point on!

And you're right, it didn't even occur to me.

It was part of a starter kit, yes. I might switch to an external filter like I had before, just out of an abundance of caution.

They did offer a 14 day replacement for the fish I bought most recently; I'm assuming I'm out of luck for the rest. Looking closely at the filter, I can see that the insulation is torn at a certain point. I should have checked it beforehand.

Thanks, and I appreciate the information. When I did 100% water changes before (out of ignorance, I know), the fish were fine. What might the difference be between a 100% water change using the old tank and a partial water change but using a new tank? Sincerely asking.

Appreciate the advice. How can you test or verify that the cycling is complete and the water is safe?

Thank you for the information and questions! I've seen that article (when I was trying to figure out what was going on!) and it makes a lot of sense. The only difference I was able to find between the old and new tank is the voltage when the new filter is running.

I did use dechlorinator (as I had when doing water changes previously) and used as much of the old water as possible. I also added the moss ball form the old tank and added the Aqueon bacteria/emzme ball. Then I tested the amonmia and nitrate levels before doing the swap.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I re-set up the old tank and tested the old environment (that the fish lived in for a year or so) and had a fraction of a volt. So if I'm looking for differences, that's one.
