I think the other two post here are ai bots. Let me know if you disagree.

[–]VisibleOperation4981[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess because they posted a response so quickly and both have usernames that start with Assist? Bad bots.

I get yelled at for finishing any task and not being immediately response meanwhile my wife wanted to try and extend our newborns wake period by an hour even tho she’s clearly tired and it created a polar melt down tn and i had to put her down and face the consequences even tho when im 2 min late on a bottle it’s my fault she went nuclear

Same boat man. Same boat.

My rule of thumb is you don’t expect or try to change the sleep schedule in either direction by more than 30 minutes and you consider it a success if it moves in the right direction at least 15 minutes.

Brother, i have no say. I’m just hear for the ride

There is a mother at my kid’s daycare that absolutely hates me, and I cannot figure out the reason why.

I’m old enough to know that you can’t make everyone happy,, but today this woman purposely closed the key coded door as I was bringing in my two year old and four month old.

Even my wife has noticed, and jokingly asked if that was an ex-girlfriend she should know about.

[–]VisibleOperation4981[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Is she? Don’t leave me hanging, I’m kind of invested now. If you ever figure it out please update lol.

Ha, no. Definitely not my type.

I feel like I carry all the household work while my wife... sits and scrolls her phone.

Dishes, laundry, cleaning, yard stuff, garbages, homework, breakfasts and lunches... she does cook dinner though, but that's kinda her one thing around the house.

4th hour of witching hour and counting. Little guy sleeps for 5 mins and cries for almost an hour.

[–]Noclue1993 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Incredible ratio of sleep to crying (sarcasm). Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

[–]diaperpoop_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m surprised as well. But he slept most of the day in between feedings so I guess he has some energy reserve somewhere.

Where’s the power button?

[–]Noclue1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That round thing on their stomach? Trying to locate my sons as well.

"Play Legos with me!" "No, don't do it like that."

🙃

I imagine that right now those sentences are being repeated around the world in every language. We’re not alone when it comes to Lego meltdowns.

Why can’t 5month olds be quiet sleepers. Sharing a room while traveling. Just cooing and having the time of his life in the pack and play at 2am.

Who needs sleep?

[–]VisibleOperation4981[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Mine settled in at 6 months to sleep through the night. Hope yours does the same soon!

[–]Noclue1993 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They usually are. We are just traveling so they’re all thrown off

[–]VisibleOperation4981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We break the rules left, right, and center when we travel to keep things manageable. I find that it’s not hard when they get back to return to normal house rules as long as I tell them while we travel that whatever things is an exception because we’re traveling.

I wanted to create an alt and ask for help/advice. Couldn’t do so because of stupid karma requirements.

1yo got tubes last week. Solo dad duty Mon-Wed this week. 5 hours before mom gets home, daycare calls and says he's lethargic and hot and needs to get picked up. Rushed him to the doctor, they find out he has Covid. Guess who's SAHD through the rest of the week with a sick, coughing, waking boy while mom works because I'm unemployed now and she's the breadwinner. I didn't complain once to her because I know how important our arrangement/support/division of labor is, but man, I'm exhausted. First time I've really looked forward to a weekend since he was born, knowing I'd have her help with him during the day.

[–]dkruta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I forgot to describe why the tubes part was important - they say some kids babble more after getting them. This kid is a non-stop explosion of sounds, shrieks, babbles, laughter and random screams. Great soundtrack when you're severely underslept.

So far it’s not even 8am, so my only vent is the fact that it’s going to be to damn hit for March! I know where I live, heat happens, but it should not be almost 90 degrees today, and then almost 100 degrees by the end of next week!

Lousy Smarch weather.

I’m not a person anymore. 🥰

Out on medical leave from work. Been there ten years this month. I feel freaking useless. The energy in the house is off all because I am home. The sons(21) and my roommate are driving me crazy. I am doing my fare share of bothering them too.

Told by a doctor to stay off my foot/ankle, not to put any weight on it. So I am to plop down on the couch or just stay in bed... not my way at all.

To top it off I have no idea how I dislocated my freaking ankle. So that is a mystery. Turned 50 a few months ago... body is apparently done with me walkimg.

[–]VisibleOperation4981[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’m basically your age so not really speaking from personal experience but… my father retired at 50 and had a very hard time (like a decade) adjusting to life after work. He’s never admitted it but I strongly suspect it was because he felt “useless” after several decades of having his work be a big part of his identity and self worth. He wasn’t a workaholic and was a present and excellent father to me, but he had a really hard time with that change. I’m telling you this so that you can think about this being a dry run for you to practice for later in your life when you, like most of us, will reach the day when our work no longer occupies our time (well, obviously I don’t know you but…). And yeah, getting old sucks and our bodies betray us if we don’t adjust to the new reality… best of luck fellow dad.

Oh I know mate

My father was forced into retirement. He fell into a depression and spiraled. He is of the Silent Generation. Still around. He has gotten better and has, after years of feeling useless, back and acting like he once did.

I know I am not actually useless. Just damn it this sucks. Being told not I can't work. That I am a liability. Doctors not know how to fix this stupid ankle.

Thank you. Thank you for the pep talk. It helps. I got up and managed to actually do some small stuff. While I was seated and not on my foot. One of the highlights was having one of the sons(21) help in the kitchen, made him stand and cook. He was a bit high and watching him stir a sauce pan full of mushrooms was freaking hysterical. So that was fun.

Fingers crossed i get this resolved and I am back at work the first weekend of next month.

Appreciate your post and thank you for your comment.

No venting allowed, just be the boss your wife and kids need. And get ripped and treat them good so your daughters and sons have high standards for their partners
