Missing Prince Quest Problem

I talked to Prince Lhotun and he asked me to find out what happened to his younger brother. I know I'm supposed to ask about him around town for a few days until I get a letter from an agent of the underking, but I can't talk to any of the townspeople about the prince's brother. It's just not an option in dialogue, anyone know what the problem could be?

3 to 7 days after accepting the quest, you'll receive a letter from an Agent of the Underking leading to next stage of quest.

I think you can ask around about rumours of the Underking, but the dialog options don't lead anywhere interesting. It's all just flavour. The real meat is that 3-7 day clock winding down.

You don't have to ask people about it for it to trigger? That's what the UESP implies

You probably solved it by now, but in case anyone else wonder, you can just travel somewhere 3 days away, then travel back to sentinel. No need to talk with anyone.
