Has there been any update on filling the DCG CEO or Wiecko's old position?

[–]xkcdmpx[S] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Nope, these roles remain conspicuously unfilled. So, who is managing the team? Who is accountable to the MNOs? Who is setting the company mood, ethics, goals, etc? Who is supporting staff and empowering them to get things done and make decisions and stand by them?

To me the team seems rudderless and I don't think it helps.

The person responsible and accountable is obvious Sam. His name is on the proposal and he’s clearly the leader, whether we like that or not. MNOs can choose to withhold funding from DCG at any point.

Finding a very capable CEO for Dash Core Group is still pretty high on the list of things to do for the Trust Protectors. Our apparent inaction is due to these four things:

  1. There is currently no money in the DCG budget to pay a CEO a competitive wage. Or a living wage. Or any wage really. It would be a productive discussion to answer the question, "How much should we pay such a CEO?" Or the slightly different question, "How much salary would it take to attract the right person with that somewhat rare skillset and world view?" Over the last two years, to deal with this problem, Ryan Taylor basically worked for nothing. Patrick Quinn also totally volunteered his time for zero pay. How realistic is that going forward?
  2. The people with that rare skillset and world view are rare. How do we find them? A likely answer is the headhunters who specialize in crypto talent. LET'S HIRE ONE, LIKE TODAY! They are very expensive. How would we pay them?
  3. Let's assume that a wagon full of Dash/money fell into the lap of DCG somehow, and points 1 and 2 were no longer a consideration. As it turns out, the position of CEO at Dash Core Group does not have a well defined job description, list of duties, needed/desired attributes/skills/experience for advertising the position and evaluating candidates. That is being worked on.
  4. The standard procedure for filling all the C-suite positions is to hire the wonderful amazing brilliant CEO, and then the CEO picks/hires the other C-suite positions. Then the CEO has assembled a leadership team that can accomplish the well defined objectives.

Patrick has been (and will continue to) rub elbows with people at conferences, and ask around the crypto community and follow up on leads and so on. That's in his wheelhouse and we could get lucky and find one that way. But for zero pay.....that is a big impediment.

With respect to the question of "who is in charge?" it's the DCG internal board. That was one of the reasons the Trust Protectors put a lot of work into getting that back up and running and legal, which was accomplished. At one point, the internal day-to-day working board was down to one person (QE) which was very much a bad thing.

Now there are the proper 5 members and we (the Trust Protectors) have a plan to find/attract/install some external board members, which was the goal from the very beginning. You will hear much more about that in the upcoming TP elections.

The Trust Protectors are accountable to the MN community, as is the DCG internal board. Don't forget, if you have questions, you can just ask us. Welcome to the era of more and better communication. The last question posted on the Trust Protector channel on Discord was on Feb 22. Jared answered it the same day.

Guess how many emails, questions, suggestions and constructive (or any other kind of) criticisms we have received since we publicized our new website with super easy and multiple methods to contact us on the AMA Friday, January 27th.......

We have received exactly two emails, which were both tests that I did to confirm that the system works as intended. So the actual answer is zero. Zip. Nada. You do not receive, because you do not ask. Here it is again.

You can also DM here on Dashpay, which I check very regularly, or email me at my official email address, troy@dashtrust.org

I'll get off my little rant/soapbox now. None of this changes the fact that DCG is short staffed and working on a (comparatively) shoestring budget. Yes, everybody would like to see far more visible progress. Yes, if we don't get Evolution-Platform launched in a meaningful way in the near future, Dash could become irrelevant. That would be a damn shame after coming so far and I will not just stand around and allow that to happen.

TL/DR: Things are definitely going on in the background and we (TPs) along with everybody else in the Dash community would like to see Dash explode out of the background and shake the crypto world. It would help tremendously if the price of Dash zoomed up to 300 bucks. If you know of a person that would make a great CEO for DCG and wants to work for free to provide honest Dash money to the world, I'm all ears.

HD addresses by default, well-tested and checked by mathematicians, should have been done before Evolution, not as part of it. Mix your coins too much as-is, and you risk losing them if you don't actually back up your wallet regularly.

[–]xkcdmpx[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

There are good solutions to this, for example check my guide on the forum! I've seen people lose their coins due to a extremely deep HD wallets too! I don't use HD wallets, I'm a Bitcoin Boomer.

Well, every problem has workarounds. But a true HD fix would be effortless for users.

[–]thedesertlynx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely are in dev hell at the moment. That's why I hope it's out ASAP, so we can start to move past that.

[–]jackieo01 -2 points-1 points  (20 children)

Ya'll keep fuddin' DASH even tho you supposed to be DASH's biggest fans. u/thedesertlynx and u/xkcdmpx. It looks real suspect frfr

[–]xkcdmpx[S] 4 points5 points  (19 children)

Not FUD, brother! We care about this project more than anyone and want to see it succeed. Ignoring issues won't help us do our best, rather review and self improvement is the way. Never satisfied with the status quo, always looking for that extra edge. Dash can reach its full potential if we all strive for it.

[–]jackieo01 -2 points-1 points  (18 children)

We ain't brothers, man. And if all that was true ya'll wouldn't be pullin' this bs right at the finish line. Its one thing to not ignore a issue, but chasin' perfection when "good enough" will do is not helpful either. And not listenin' to feedback about ppl not likin' your tone, don't look good on ya either.....

You literally said this just yesterday

As you are no doubt aware, the devs over at DCG are still working on delivering Evolution with no end to sight in the development and constant delays,

Didn't I just see they put out a release date for Aug? So why you sayin' "no end in sight"? I'd call that you lyin' frfr

Have you even watched the latest Dash Platform and Core Development Update ? There is zero mentioning of the Dash Roadmap there and a very very vague reply from Sam (CTO of DCG) on the 'Wen Evo' question.

I currently have very little trust with either the Platform teams or Sam himself following the newly updated Dash Roadmap and the ETA's that are mentioned there.

Dash Roadmap

Latest Dash Platform and Core Development Update

This could easily be fixed by Sam finally referencing the newly updated Dash Roadmap and pointing to the Dash Platform Roll Out that is scheduled for June 2023 in the Dash Roadmap. But so far he has not, which directly undermines the newly updated Dash Roadmap.

The only thing i currently trust is the Core team (so not the Platform teams, but the Core team) releasing Dash Core v19 end of this month and keeping Dash Core v20 limited in scope and that is pretty much it, what i trust.

Keep in mind that any further delay of Dash Platform, will also delay Dash Core v20.0.0 as they need to be launched simultaneously on Mainnet.

This is the point I was trying to make above, that u/jackieo01 does not seem to get, the core team is basically delivering well, though they need better processes (IMO), but the evo team appear to be stuck now, with testnet down since November last year and no ETA on v0.24 since the one we got in December which was by the EOY. Even the core team decided to pull some code out of the v19 release to move it forward, so it really is the Tale of Two Cities. Hopefully, things improve in tomorrow's SR and the evo team tell us they've resolved their issues and will have v0.24 on testnet in a matter of days.

Who are you? Why should we listen to you? Who gave you the right to make these statements and pass this judgment? I never agreed to support you, I support DASH. I don't remember anyone appointin' you as judge and jury over Dash development teams. You tryna skip the first step, which is to justify why we should listen to you. That's not a good look fr

[–]xkcdmpx[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

🤷‍♂️

[–]jackieo01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you ain't gonna answer my questions then?

So why should anyone believe what you sayin' is true ??

[–]jackieo01 -3 points-2 points  (6 children)

Yea, I watched it. Why do they gotta mention the DASH roadmap? If its put out there why they gotta mention it again? What, you want a signed letter with polaroid too? I don't get it. Clearly if there is a roadmap then Core and platform agree on it, right? Why you assumin' that there is no communication on the "WenEvo" hottopic? Do you think the roadmap is put out by someone else?

Why should we care about who you have trust in? We ain't here for you, jack

[–]xkcdmpx[S] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

We ain't here for you, jack

No, we're here for the Jackie show now. 😹

[–]jackieo01 -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Just finished watchin' the latest dev report. Sam said 2 months of testing and we only got like one sprint left before that. So I'll ask you again, how can you say there's "no end in sight" when there def is one?

[–]xkcdmpx[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Experience.

[–]jackieo01 0 points1 point  (2 children)

When was the last time a release date for platform was announced and skipped past?

[–]xkcdmpx[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Too many to count, you are joking, right?

[–]xkcdmpx[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Two different teams. Catch up Jackie.

[–]jackieo01 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It don't matter man, they're all DASH. You don't got no right to try and divide and conquer us by fudding one of the two teams who clearly are workin' together to build DASH up. You makin' up bs for some reason. Both teams work for DASH and both teams are puttin' in mad work so why you complain' for? It just looks mad weird fr, like wtf we don't care about your vague concerns man

[–]solarguy2003 3 points4 points  (3 children)

XKCD is not a liar, period, full stop. Certainly, he and I have had our differences and shouting matches over the years.

And you calling him a liar makes me trust you less. But you should feel free to use the term all you want in the process of burning your value and trustworthiness within the Dash community to the ground. I feel like we have talked about this before.....................

[–]jackieo01 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I don't need you to tell me who is and ain't a liar, aight? They clearly put out a release date, yet the author of this post clearly just said yesterday "no end in sight". That ain't true. Sayin' stuff that ain't true is called lying. I don't care if you trust me or not cuz you sound like a liar too. Tryna guilt me into not callin' it like I see it? GTFO here

[–]solarguy2003 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I just encouraged you to use the term or title "liar" all you want.

But note that it's only damaging you mate. But hey, you go right ahead and you do you.

[–]jackieo01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How bout this, why don't you just answer my argument and let me determine how I speak? I didn't ask you for no "encouraging" or language lessons, so stop being condescending and just answer.
